Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama @ OU

Great job not giving up down 17-0. Sorry Michigan, CKD is staying in Tuscaloosa.
Hope you are correct. It would be nice to get it done. He slow-played Wash for weeks, maybe a couple of months, but never signed the contract on his desk. I don’t know what he is doing now: legitimately looking things over; or negotiating; or waiting to bolt. Hope it’s not the last.

Washington to Bama isn't a lateral move like Bama to Michigan..hell, it isn't even lateral at this point. Who wants to leave a Mansion for a burning building?

Still no real offensive identity, no real dominant defense. I couldn’t tell you what this team does well. But they still have the best athletes in the game and sometimes that’s enough.

We can't block, but we played some big boy football the last three quarters and that's why we won.
Sure you can block - at least pass protect. At least 2 of the 4 sacks were on Ty or the RBs. Mateer was sacked 5 times by Alabama’s lightly regarded pass rushers. At least relative to the SEC, Alabama’s OL is above avg. All SEC QBs have to be on the lookout. And Alabama has played all of the top pass rushing units but A&M.

Proctor is a consensus All-American, likely a first round draft pick, but to listen to this board you would think he’s not fit to breathe the same air as the OL “experts” on this board.

I don’t disagree with a word you said. I have been and still am a BIG DeBoer fan, but I’m just offering an observation. As I said, it may simply be “due diligence” or a negotiating ploy or some other legitimate reason, but history records that the same narrative played out in his move to Alabama.

IMO, the Alabama program gets an unfair rap because the admin, thankfully, pays little attention to the fans. And most of the fans are reasonable, but there is a vocal minority, like on this board, who are clueless and fickle. Some of these are charlatans and trolls but some are genuine Alabama fans who wanted to fire Coach Bryant after 1969, who were sick of Gene Stallings and his antiquated and boring offense , etc.

And the national media love to see them stirred up. IMO, their rep was created in the 60s when they would write nasty letters to any national pundit or AP Poll voter with whom they disagreed.

I have no idea what DeBoer is thinking. But I know that the fan base would fire him and anyone else in the twinkling of an eye if they get dissatisfied. It’s why I don’t blame coaches for doing what they do, it’s their livelihood, or the players who are only following what the adults in their lives do, including most of the fans - looking out for number one.

Hope DeBoer wraps his contract up tomorrow. Just making an observation.

I'm pretty sure they're still in negotiations. It will probably get done during the off-season. I think Michigan is about to move on anyways, so I think you can rest easy..
