I think Cole Cublic's comparison to Lynn Swann is NOT hyperbole! This was a great catch by Williams! The way he can control and contort his body is incredible.
It's ridiculous how he can adjust in the air!!!

I know nobody wants to entertain these contextual points, but these type of things answer the question "How can #1 Alabama lost to an unranked Vandy team?"The Defense didn't do it's job, but I'd like to analyze this a bit deeper...
1. Pick six -- not on the defense
2. Milroe Fumble -- (I think that turned into 3 points -- might have been 7)
3. Two #2s on the punt return -- extended the drive - turned into either 3 or 7 points (again, not sure)
So, anywhere from 13 to 21 points -- that aren't on the defense.
Vandy was predicted to score about 20 points in the game -- so, the math says -- the defense underperformed, but any of those 3 above don't happen, we are complaining, but we aren't jumping off the Tallahachee Bridge...
Pick six was a slightly late throw, the DB made a good play on the ball. The Defense didn't do it's job, but I'd like to analyze this a bit deeper...

Yeah, agree to disagree. Milroe is now a great college football QB. Great, not good. He makes far fewer mistakes than most college QBs, and makes far more great plays, while now also making most 0-15 yard pass plays look easy.so that's where we disagree. IMO, the ball was very late arriving as JM didn't start the throw until AFTER RW planted for the turn. On this one, he should have thrown it right as RW crossed the 35 and started to decelerate and then the DB doesn't have the time to close the gap. Even if RW got his head around faster, the ball would not have been there because he'd come back from the 38 to the 36 before the ball arrived. See below.
RW is STARING at the ball, he's fully turned around, waiting. The ball should already be in his hands but it's just barely across the 30 and the DB has had time to close the gap already and is in great shape to get the PBU. This DB already chose to not try to undercut the route and just play for the PBU.

Also, #5 was likely the primary as his route stopped half a count earlier. Honestly he was open (at least as open as these routes gets). His was similar but instead of a straight stop and back, it was a stop to the outside as the DB played inside shoulder. It was also there if the ball is on time.
I with ya...and I was extremely passionate about his play last year. But he's grown as much as anybody at QB in one year that I can remember! The way he's hitting the short and intermediate routes has changed my perception of him.Yeah, agree to disagree. Milroe is now a great college football QB. Great, not good. NFL QBs make more mistakes than Milroe has made this year. But some Alabama fans keep focusing on his mistakes.
This is not last year's Milroe.

You forgot to highlight penalties, but yeah. It's simple. I've highlighted the 3 main reasons why we lost the game. The 3rd down efficiency of Vanderbilt kind of relates to time of possession. I was kind of surprised at Vandy's yard per rush number. I only saw highlights of the game and looking at the complaints on the board made it seem like they were running through us like a hot knife through butter. I guess they got the yards right when they needed them though.

He had tons of game filmDon't disagree. Just amazed that CKW has never seen that offense before and didn't know how to adjust to it.
I'm thrilled with his improvement. The progress is very, very impressive; improbable even. The first qtr against UGA he showed some really solid improvement with execution and timing, but since then, he stepped back slightly. It's still an order of magnitude better than last year, but not always quite what it needs to be for these types of routes. We saw him do it against UGA, now he just needs to show he can do it consistently.Yeah, agree to disagree. Milroe is now a great college football QB. Great, not good. I'm glad you posted this because I've meant to bring up the 3rd down and 4th down conversions. It's simple. I've highlighted the 3 main reasons why we lost the game. I think this is the root of the problem, and I've thought so for years now.I get really tired of so many posters on here always referring to what great talent we have and, should never lose because we have stockpiled so much talent. We have one 5 star who is playing at the 5 star level and he is 17 years old. I am beginning to think that all of the other 4 and 5 stars are too concerned with NIL money and the LANK crap. They have developed a major entitlement attitude, love to show off their dancing moves, and generally are getting whipped by opponents with 2 and 3 stars. Couple this with poor coaching and it is a recipe for what happened Saturday in Nashville and will happen again against more talented teams.
There's no anger towards Saban. I appreciate Coach and his tenure at Alabama. Just get tired of people saying we wouldn't lost a game like this with Saban. Maybe not this particular one, but he lost very similar games where you wondered what his defense was doing against an offense/team that was a subpar or mediocre team at best. For example, a team quarterbacked by Zach Calzada. A Texas A&M team that beat a 4-8 Colorado team 10-7. Colorado gave up 10 points to them! We gave up 41. A Texas A&M team that got beat at home by a Miss. State team (the game before we played them) that went 7-6. Miss. State only gave up 22 points to them! I think the key reason is that Saban never simplified his defense in an era of college football where you don't have players in the system 3 to 5 years for the most part. They could never learn the system it seemed like, so you had defensive players all the time raising their hands at the snap like "what are we doing" right before they got burned for a big play or a score. Vanderbilt runs a difficult offense to defend, especially with this quarterback they have coming off a bye week. Perhaps there were issues coaching the defense up for the scheme just like Saban seemed to struggle with at times in similar situations.I don't understand the anger toward Saban in this post.
PullllleaseSigh, can we get Saban to come out of retirement to coach this defense?
CKD please take noteAgree 6 quarters of flagrant incompetency
Vandy doesn’t need to win another game. The program is successful for the next ten years over this disaster.Vandy will not have a winning season, looking at their schedule
