CKD might have inherited more highly-recruited players but I'm not so sure he actually inherited a much better team...
Coach Saban is the greatest of all time, but he’s not without faults (none of us are of course). And he left his successor a really bad situation to sort through.

In some ways CKD handled it well and in others he failed badly. But he hopefully has learned a ton and will be able to clean this mess up over the offseason.

The barners are absolutely hysterical. All week leading up to the game, they were SO cocky they were not only going to win, but win in convincing fashion. They started harkening back to when they won in Tuscaloosa on the regular. But back then, wasn't everybody else winning there on the regular too? They "own" Tuscaloosa at 7-8. And by the time they come back, it'll be 16 years since they last won there.

I think they really thought that Saban retiring was going to immediately shift the series back in their favor. Like back to how it was under Shula. They said we would NEVER rattle off a streak anywhere close to what they did in the 2000's. And they were saying that even in the height of the Saban era. They were REALLY counting on this win today. Now they are jumping off that sinking ship 😂

He inherited a much better team. Coming out of probation with less scholarship players to begin with, Nick’s first team had 9 players arrested in a year and a team leader arrested for distribution of Cocaine, plus the text book scam . Players and Boosters bucked Saban’s total control until they either bought in or got gone. . I guess we have forgotten where Mike Shula left this program.

I haven’t seen so many people wearing Auburn gear pre game since the 2010 season. I guess it will all go to the attic until the next time there is a glimmer of hope.

He didn’t inherit a better team than Smart. Smart didn’t have the transfer portal losses and Richt had developed a top 10 program.

I will disagree with that as well, but first let’s see if CKD makes it to the championship game next year

It was good to see "offensive" linemen, and I mean that literally, substituted during the game, and I think it made a difference.

End of the day I think we were lucky this was not a Saban coached Bama team.
This was his first pass thru the SEC, he should improve a good bit. He was also saddled with a QB who is a very bad fit for his QB-centric offense. Though he did well (5-1) in most of the bigger games or better teams (UGA, USCe, Mo, LSU, AU) except UT, his team did not take care of a couple of lesser teams.

He does not seem to have Saban’s penchant for sometimes tightening up at the beginning of big games or rivals (UT, LSU, AU).

And Freeze does not have Wommack’s number on D like he did Saban’s. Even in losses (2-5 vs Saban) he often flummoxed Saban’s D. My guess a major reason he was appealing to AU.

Now the real watch begins, will Milroe declare for the draft or do we see another game with him at QB? Time will tell.
Either way, I don't think we see Milroe again unless it's a playoff game. If he doesn't declare, he'll be in the portal, at which point he definitely won't play in the bowl game.

Honestly, Bama dominated this game. It doesn't show up on the scoreboard because of the 4 turnovers, but other than the QB issues, the rest of our team completely dominated those Tigers
To be fair, They drove the ball on us alot in that first half, D just stiffened up in the redzone thank god.
