Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama vs. LA Monroe...

So the question I'm left with is this: can we take that kind of intensity on the road? Early returns aren't too promising, but it's one game and who knows, FSU might be a top 4 team when all is said and done. (The rest of the ACC hasn't looked all that great.) So tonight was a great palate cleanser to ease the sting from last week. I was really impressed with how these guys responded and even the third-team guys were playing like they wanted to separate souls from bodies. If we can keep this up for the rest of the season, there are going to be some angry BAMA-haters out there by the time the playoff selection is over with.

A few observations/questions:
  1. Didn’t see Mbakwe returning punts or on O until late. Wonder if he’s regretting switching?
  2. Good for 23 getting a TD. He’s a walk-on & 5th year senior.
  3. Faceless opponent from here on out. Intensity has to continue.
  4. Deboer got through to the team. You can tell by the way we competed across all levels of the depth chart.
  5. There are some things to clean up- for example, blocking on the perimeter.

Proud of the team tonight. They did exactly what they were supposed to to respond to the calamity of last week. I am still skeptical but I feel so much better. it Was also really nice to see much of the depth and promise for years to come!

I was wondering the same about Mbakwe.

Scoreboard aside, the thing I was impressed with the most was the locked-in intensity that didn't let up until the 00:00.

On both sides of the ball!

The response we needed!
This most of all!

Glad to see some positive things out there!
I guess more questions will be answered about speed, size and will against more finely tuned opposition.

Finally a fun and complete game! I don’t know how good we are objectively still, but I think the key takeaway from this game is that- finally- these players haven’t given up and wanted to show how well they could play when they actually commit. Now let’s just continue this effort for the rest of the season and not assume we’ve got it in the bag vs Wisconsin or something stupid.

Yeah I felt like Mbakwe should have stayed at corner. He drunk that Travis Hunter Kool-Aid and got drunk

What kind of response did we need to have given the level of competition we faced tonight to actually make a statement?

An MJ Chirgwin receiving touchdown kind of response.

Speaking of competition, the following teams faced all the programs in our conference who have blown past us and left us in our dead and decrepit state: San Jose St., Austin Peay, La Tech, SC State, Utah St. …. None of these teams are much better or worse than Monroe, and none of them got NEARLY as dominated as the Warhawks just did.

Maybe the new high-and-mighties need to keep thinking we’re done, and maybe we just need to keep thinking we’re sorry as well.
