Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread Bama vs. MSU...

This has been a “different” year to say the least. Don’t know when I’ve been this “down” with a team that is 9-1 with still two games left and much still left to play for.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m NOT down on the players or the coaches. This has been a season (and pre-season) where there never seemed to be a point of smooth sailing. You expect challenges and adversity. But this year, with injuries and defections and discipline issues, it just seems relentless.

These next two weeks, especially the Iron Bowl, will define this team. Do they wallow in the “poor me” attitude or do they get up and fight? I sense much frustration in Coach Saban year, not only dealing with the circumstances, but finding a way to “reach” many of these players.

My gut tells me there is still a lot of “fight left in this dog” and Coach Saban will find it.

I leave you guys alone for one day and you break Tua! JK!

Hoping he recovers soon and is able to return and lead a normal life doing whatever he chooses. I also thought of the BC game and Kerry Goode. Sad day yesterday and costly win!

It's been lost in the talk about Tua but what is the status of Dale, Davis, and Ruggs? The injuries Saban stated seemed like Dale and Ruggs would be playing in the Iron Bowl but probably not next week. Davis looked worse.

It is hard to call this a down year when we've had enough injuries to make most teams have only an 8-4 ceiling but often finishing with something closer to bowl eligibility.

All we know is that Davis was in a boot and using crutches after the game. I think that he likely misses Auburn, but I don't think that hurts you. No disrespect intended, but Davis is not as good as Barmore and this is just a loss of depth, not the loss of a super-star.

Ruggs - as long as the ribs are not broken, he will play.

Dale - Saban said that his had a twisted knee and seemed unconcerned.

I just don't ever remember Saban or any coach at Bama pulling a starting QB in 1st half regardless of score.

Watching this game, I know I didn't want Tua to come out because I wasn't sure if defense would control the game. Really hadn't all year.

He has pulled starters before in the 1st half but usually in the FCS/Group of 5 games, never in a SEC game.

Just thinking off the top of my head, even in the 2012 Iron Bowl, AJ was still in the game in the second half while up 42-0.

The memory some of you guys have is amazing.

You mean Boston College game in 1984? That is when Goode blew out his knee. Was never the same afterwards. Doug Flutie was in that game.

I’m Facebook friends with Kerry. He writes the most inspirational posts. Very faith based. Makes me shed tears sometimes. He’s a great person.
He was incredible as a Freshman. Made for the "Toss Sweep" and Bama had a couple of linemen who LOVED to run the ball. Bill Condon was a road grader.

And for all the second guessers and those criticizing Saban in the media, Urban Meyer has come to his defense..................

If anyone knows about QB injuries it's him, he lost two in one season, one in fall camp in one in the Michigan game.

There's no love lost on this board for Gary Danielson, but here's a quote from yesterday while he was on air covering the barner game:

“I think the narrative here is backward,” Danielson said on the CBS broadcast from Jordan-Hare Stadium. "They have been saying this is going to hurt Alabama with the voters. I think Alabama remembers back to Cardale Jones for Ohio State.

“If Alabama comes in here and beats Auburn without Tua, they deserve to be No. 4.”

If any long term Bama fan doubts we have the ability to whip Auburn in two weeks they must not have been paying attention. If we find ourselves a little short on pure talent at an important position, the team usually picks up the slack with the Bama intangibles like heart, desire, past experience and a bunch more stuff like that.

Over the years we've seen it before more often than not.
