I understand it takes time to install a new defense scheme but our LB’s and secondary look completely lost at times. I know CNS was a big man defense guy and Wommack (at least it seems) plays a lot more zone. But lord at the guys reacting late to open receivers is ridiculous.

They are lining up in the right places, but not playing with conviction. Either they lack confidence in themselves or the defense - or both.

I wonder if sometimes the defense just isn't seeing what's going on. There was one play, late in the game, where SC ran off right guard on first down. We had two unblocked linebackers right there and the RB ran right between them for 20 yards. Did we not see him coming or something? I hope we can at least patch up this defense.
Pretty much what I’m thinking. It seems to me they aren’t seeing or they aren’t “trusting ” what they see. As to third and fourth downs, through the first half of this season, the most concerning thing is these aren’t just 3rd and 4th and short yardage. Many of these are long yardage situations That 4th down blow coverage for the TD was inexcusable.

Coach Bryant said "run the ball and stop the run". We do neither well. A result of too many guys who may not be driven hard enough by Dr. Strength Coach. Need a Cochran type guy in there with them. I realize you pass more today but our opponents are running the ball at will on us. Kids like Oates not playing.

I think this team has seen what we’ve seen from these d coaches and no longer believe in their coaching nor prep and are just trying to out talent the competition which doesn’t work outside high school.
Offensively im not that upset I just wish he’d do better at clock management but when you’re an aggressive play caller by nature and you run the show it is what it is

We have officially left the Saban era of Alabama football. It's not that we aren't good, it's just that we can lose to anyone and we can beat anyone. If I was forced to bet on our regular season record, I would say 9-3. I'm not even going to attempt to guess who we go 4-2 against the rest of the way because I feel like it's a total crap shoot. These last two games were supposed to be the layups after the Georgia game, and now the schedule gets really serious for the next 4 games.

I don't even know where to start with the craziness of today's game. I really thought we were going to overtime when Jackson intercepted that pass and almost took a knee. I don't know what the call would have been if they would have ruled momentum took him into the endzone, but I'm very glad we didn't have to find out.

The defense didn't play well today, but they played really bad at the end of the 2nd quarter and then again late in the game. Honestly, a playoff spot might be the ceiling for this team with this defense, and I mean that's as far as we get. One and done. It's probably 50/50 we get into the playoff at this point.

It's crazy, because two weeks ago I was thinking we were almost guaranteed a playoff spot if we beat Tennessee. Now that's just one of many games we'll have to fight and claw for to win.

We were truly spoiled, and now we need to quickly accept that we are back to being good but not great and on equal footing with the LSUs and Oklahomas of the college football world.

What did Coach Saban ALWAYS mention when describing a high performing individual, whether player, coach or business?? Consistency of effort. We really seem to be lacking that component on this team. We have high level athletes that make great plays; and THEN you find yourself shaking your head when they are out of position or don't seem to give their best effort on the next critical play? A moment when we NEED to make a play to dominate and control the game. Plays we are used to seeing Bama make.
Wish I had an answer; not what we have come to expect?
