Like, did Ty look definitively better than Milroe did vs MTSU?

I'm not sure MTSU is even as bad as USF

of course Milroe looked better than any of them against MTSU.....but it's hard to draw much from a solid performance against comp like that.

But I think something can be drawn from how buchner and simpson played today. Both were just very poor. RG3 is very annoying, but at least he called that right.

Im not opposed to starting Simpson because there are plenty of reasons not to start the other 2 as well. but let's be honest.....we aren't looking good at that position regardless if it's simpson or milroe or buchner. One thing that concerns me about simpson is he is the least athletic/running ability of the 3, and he also(like milroe) doesn't appear to have an internal clock or know how to manage the pocket. Maybe it's something he could get better at with more game experience I guess?

I will say this about the O line, there’s a reason why NFL o lines are not as heavy as ours. Agility is important. We need to actually lose some weight and get stronger.

You might be right. But that's not happening in the next 90 days.

Fair question. As I mentioned, we're 10 months into the decision-making process, and I don't think we know whether Milroe or Simpson is the guy. I lean slightly towards Simpson, but with an OL that leaks like a mid-70s Harley, it's about impossible for a fan to tell.

But I think we're unanimous that Buchner isn't the guy.

did you watch the game? He literally made one nice play(which was an easy throw) the entire game....and took a bunch of bad sacks(yes the offensive line gave him no chance on some, but some were on him)

Im not saying Simpson shouldnt start. The other 2 havent given any reason to start them either. But it's clear at this point none of them have shown anything.....so sure why not start simpson. but for the life of me I can't see how anyone could take anything positive from any of their play. Doing so is just grasping at straws in my opinion and just trying to will someone to be 'the guy'.......we don't have a guy, at least right now. it is what it is.
Yeah it was totally the easiest pass of all time, bench him. Every other QB we’ve put on the field was so much better and definitely would have made that pass. Which is why they didn’t, it’s all a ploy.

Geeze dude. Take a chill pill. Was it the hardest pass and read of all time? No. But he actually made the play and ran the offense, with no turnovers. Led 2 TDs. More than we can say for anyone else.

I thought Simpson was definitively better than Buchner. Not bashing, but Buchner wasn’t even minimally functional. Simpson was running for his life and still finished 5/9 for 73. If we don’t fix oline issues it’s going to be hard to expect much from any of the QBs though.

I learned nothing new about the QB situation today. Next week we will know. Ty did ok today but he was not asked to do anything. He never had to read the defense at all. The good thing is he got some real game experience with the game in the balance. I think its a 2 man race right now. I think Ty should get first team reps and Milroe should get 2nd team with some wishbone stuff thrown in.
He wasn’t asked to do anything? He was asked to win the game, and he did.

He made throws the other guys just can’t.

He brought a spark and together with Roydell pulled us through.

He did great considering he hasn’t been getting a lot of snaps until this week and his OL was getting him killed.
What throw did he make that the other guys can't? The throw to the tight end was a designed play with one read. Milroe can make all the throws he just can't (or has not shown the ability to yet) read a defense.

Roydell did show me something.

CNS: proud of players and we'll enjoy the win and proud of how they competed. Had backs against wall. Challenged players with 6:29 left to not let USF get ball back.

Will evaluate QBs this week. No decisions about next week.

Booker is leader of OL. Helps 74 play better and 74 has more confidence when Booker is in there. Booker had back spasms.

RTR!!! Give Ty all the reps this week. We may have a close game next week or we may lose, but Ty needs confidence. This should help. Glad he got his chance.
I thought he played "ok" after the first two or three series he was in. He seemed to settle down a bit. He needs to learn to take what the d gives him though.
