Jam did as well - straight up brickwalled a LB on one blitz. It was a thing of beauty.
I thought our RBs played well, considering the situation we put them in. I don’t want to say anything negative about McClellan or Roydell (McClellan was SPECIAL before the injury), but I wish we had played Jam and Haynes way more last year.

Coach is in his 19th year as a head coach. Career record 106-12 - that's almost 90%...so, probably should not worry about his ability just yet.
I'm not. I wasn't trying to be critical. Just acknowledging that the article is correct.

I've been a fan of CKD's Offense for a few years now and have watched a bunch of Washington's games the last 2 years.

They got flagged a lot but were almost always able to overcome it anyway.

The biggest playcall I had an issue with was the Milroe fumble. Idk why he had him under center there it seemed crazy to me. Obviously Milroe has to handle the snap but it still seemed silly to put him under center there.
Jalen Hurts goes under center as many NFL QB's on the goal line. Football was played undercenter about a century before the single wing and spread were developed. If he was in the spread and a bad snap occurred there would have been much criticism on that decision. It might be because the spread is low percentage compared to QB sneaks or dive plays from the one.

I "tongue and cheek" told the visiting Bull fan last week that I'd blitz JM every play.

He said that would be their plan. That's what they did.

I wonder what Wisky's DC is thinking? Kirby? Every SEC DC on our schedule?

If a QB can't identify the blitz and audible a receiver into the vacated area for a short, quick throw, to make them stop it they won't.

It'll probably take losing a game (and we will) but something has to change OR we are going to see a repeat of last year OR probably not even that much success.
Wisconsin seems more concerned with their rush defense. They see Alabama as one of the best rushing offenses in the nation. They're disappointed in their rush defense, and look to stop Bama's. They say they will not return to their standard of defense until the rush defense improves dramatically. They brought in linebacker transfers that have not panned out.

Did you read that on a Wisc Board? Just asking for context.

It's hard to judge after 2 games but right now they are 66th in Rushing Defense and Bama is 69th in Rushing defense.

They are currently 22nd in Pass Defense and we are 9th.

They are 34th in Total Defense and we are 22nd

Scoring Defense they are 40th and we are 17th

Again though hard to judge what's what when most everyone has played 'cupcakes' so far in 2024.

I think they'll be fired up and give us a competitive game.

Not a board. A Wisconsin site. I think it's here.

I believe we are seeing JM as QB1 primarily because of his athleticism and escapability for a sometimes porous OL. But his talents dont mitigate the weaknesses of a porous OL they make them worse.

Also, Saban said that in the NIL era you have a problem when you pay the wrong guys too much money, youre stuck.

I think both of these are true. In fact, I think there may have been a holdover commitment from Saban to CKD with respect to JM that had to be honored. Which would explain why there really wasnt much a of QB competition in the spring.

Somwthing just doesnt sit right with the status that JM has had in the program relative to his resume and performance. It appeared last year he hijacked the lockerroom. I questioned why we recruited him the first place given we were moving away from the run first DT QBs in the mold of Hurts.

It’s nice of them not to watch any film…
