This past February, WR Josh Jarboe signed with the Oklahoma Sooners after being touted as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2008 class.

He quickly found himself in hot water, though, as the Georgia product got in major trouble for carrying a gun on his high school campus. He was on thin ice after that, and today he was [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3514840"]Oklahoma dismisses coveted recruit Jarboe in wake of Internet video - College Football - ESPN[/ame] after an obscene 74 second YouTube video was posted last week that featured him freestyle rapping about guns and shooting people.

Oklahoma doesn't even begin Fall practice until Sunday. This is the first time I can ever remember a player being kicked off of a football team before even reporting for practice.

P.S. For those who are curious, you can find the video via a search on YouTube simply by searching for his name, but it's quite vulgar so it doesn't need to be posted here or in any family friendly atmosphere.

Oklahoma has kicked freshman wide receiver Josh Jarboe off the team, coach Bob Stoops announced Friday.

"We are disappointed in this outcome, but our complete review and the final decision is in the best interest of the program," Stoops said in a prepared statement.

Jarboe, ranked 13th on ESPN's list of top high school players last season, was sentenced in May to two years' probation and 80 hours of community service for carrying a gun on the grounds of his high school in Decatur, Ga. An assistant principal caught him there with a pistol in his possession in the school parking lot.

When are these kids ever going to get it??? Another big time waste of talent gone down the drain....pitiful

Stoops just gained some serious respect in my book. It was the right thing to do and certainly not the easiest.

When are people going to learn that there are certain things you do not post on the internet. I remember two girls in my dorm my freshman year at Alabama posting pictures on Facebook of illegal activities. It didn't take long for action by the University to be taken.

Re: Oklahoma dismisses coveted recruit Jarboe in wake of Internet video

geez.... man i hate to hear of this garbage. gotta hate it for coach stoops, but at least he had the courage to do the right thing. its bad on the kid because he will probablly go back to that life style.... man thats sickening. i pray that our team sticks to the process and off the streets. RTR! :BigA:

I was just on one of the Oklahoma boards and they said the the vidio was made in one of the athletic buildings. HOW STUPID IS THAT!!!! I think that may have been part of the reason for the dismissal.

I don't think he'll go straight to D-1AA. Another D-1A school will take a chance on him. I hope he doesn't end up in the SEC because he's a dominator when he wants to be.

Re: Oklahoma dismisses coveted recruit Jarboe in wake of Internet video

I really admire Stoops for the way he handled this situation along with the Rhett Bomar dismissal a while back.

You have to hand it to Bob Stoops, he has shown firm resolve in both this and the Rhett Bomar situation. You may or may not like certain things about him, but you have to respect his firm stand for ethics and integrity that he has shown.

I have to humbly disagree with those that want to give Stoops respect for the way he handled this one. I personally think they had no choice, they had to boot the kid.

The AJC version states this kid was expelled from school for bringing a gun on campus. Why didn't OU boot him at that point?
