Oklahoma Wrap-up: Redemption tour ends as Tide can't execute under pressure

Thanks. All valid points. I'd include the defense on the list of culprits. They did a lot of good things but never really delievred any field position for the offense. They had the chance several times. OU had three freshmen on the OL and our DL looked like thay had taken a big step back. Disappointing.

Aside from all the in-game things you stated as well as anyone could, whoever set our schedule up like this out of the SEC office this should be outed.

Byrne has always come off as a super passive guy, but someone needs to answer for how a team like A&M gets to play the literal back half of the league before a trip to Texas to end the season while we have an almost unending list of ranked/near-ranked opponents coming off “vacation”. This is five of eight league opponents with a bye in addition to Auburn getting their trip to the spa this weekend while dedicating 100% of their focus towards Mercer over of a three week period…

People may want to deny the pain of the truth by saying “Stop making excuses” or “Play the cards you’re dealt”, but if you don’t fight for what is fair, those “excuses” can have a way of being repeated against you by those who want to you see you fail at any cost, ethical or not.

When thinking about this atrocious schedule, I’m reminded of the scene in gladiator where Maximus gets a dagger to the rib before heading out to the Colosseum floor. “Conceal the wound.”

The absurd inequity of scheduling fairness of the top 20 in general is making this “product” less desirable.

Went to the game yest with a couple of buddies. We were like god dang man....Bama has an oklahoma problem......we cant seem to beat them guys. Its like a mental block or something
on the brightside, we don't play them next year and the team's that do know how to beat them. We might not have to play them in the SEC championship or playoffs if we make that.

Exactly my friend, in all honesty The Deboer Era is a head scratcher, even right now we're still in the driver's seat..

Hopefully we buck this trend of losing big games under this coaching staff, we have the talent in place to win out, it's up too this coaching staff too produce better big games game plans & put our Boy's in better place too win these games.JMO

In all honesty......and yes I read Jess N's write up.....but this loss really is on Ty......I mean he's my guy.....he's a warrior, a rough rider.....man can ball.....but the pick six.....the fumbles.....I mean c'mon man. Take away just one of those miscues and Bama's chances of winning the game go up so much. So i dont put this one one the coaches. We'll be ok but our QB didnt help us at all in this game with those miscues.

Overall I agree we seem to almost always just puke on the field vs OU

We did beat them in the Playoffs in 2018 where Tua outplayed Murray who just won the Heisman.

It gets forgotten because of the Clemson game that followed.

OU has won three games this year they should have lost. They should be sitting at 5-5 right now. Give them credit for not folding, I guess.

Thanks Jess, as usual, a spot on analysis. This morning it still feels like this team choked the whole season away because they can't figure out how to beat OU. But there's still stuff to play for, so hopefully we can figure out how to finish strong.

agree on Ty. if we just tackle Bowen on the pick 6, Ryan holds on to the ball, or Talty makes an easy fg, the game is completely different. heck even with all those miscues, Bama still led at one point in the game and a chance to win the game!!

Why does it have to be on Ty? I mean the fumble was from a missed block. The pick six was pass interference, or the receiver not fighting through contact to catch the ball.

200 yards is 200 yards. If you’re worried about complimentary football how about not fumbling a punt? How about the blocking not allowing a free rusher to lay the wood and cause a fumble?

I was ready to fire Womack last year and parts of this year, but the defensive side of the ball is actually improving as the year goes along.

Pick six plus the short field touchdown and I think Alabama wins and covers.

I will agree with Jess.

I do think it was Ty's worst game but I believe he was thrust into making those mistakes. In order of responsibility, I would pin the loss on...

Special teams play and coaching of the same,

OL execution yet again, not more can be said about what it is,

RB pass protection and decisive up field running,

OC play calling, we found the right things in the 2nd quarter and first part of 3rd quarter that got us the lead and then we went away from it.

Simple fact is that our coaches spend too much time coaching outside the margins with this team. We know what this team does well and when it does it well we can beat anybody. But since the Tennessee game we have gotten away from what works at precisely the time we needed to double down on it. Its obvious our staff has the ability to install variety into the offense, but may be not installing right stuff.

During that time RB1, and best pass protector, was injured. Do something to mitigate that. Run more I formation PA as I think we were successful with those package of plays. Cuevas is an under used weapon imo.
