I think I would put LT-Smith,LG- Britt,C-Cardwell,RG-BJ Stabler,RT-Cadwell.This is just my opinion I like Cadwell at Center but we need someone to stop DE from just running wild.

Re: Who would you start at each OL position?

I would go:

Smith Britt Cardwell Caldwell Tatum TE

And always keep a TE on that side.

Re: Who would you start at each OL position?

Smith Smith Caldwell Smith Smith

...seriously...

Smith Britt Cardwell Caldwell Tatum

...even though caldwell is a better center, this might be a more stable line as a whole...

Re: Who would you start at each OL position?

Smith, Caldwell, Cardwell, Stabler and Michael Johnson

It is time to get Johnson some reps and build for the future. I don't see where he could do any worse than anyone else who has played RT.

Re: Who would you start at each OL position?

Smith - Britt - Caldwell - Ross - Stadler

I know they aren't ready physically or mentally, but I can't see them doing worse...

Re: Who would you start at each OL position?

LT - Smith-----M.Johnson/C.Davis
LG - M.Davis---Ross/Stabler
C - Cardwell---Ross
RG - Caldwell---Ross/Stabler
RT - T.Pharr---A.Stadler/D.Davis

Too late in the season to change now but , this would be the first look that I would try in the Spring and go from there . At least more than one side of the line would be "stable" . T.Pharr is a part of the future and couldn't possibly do any worse that what is currently taking place . Britt is needed more on defense and it's hard to commit many false-starts at DT .:eek2: JOMO !!!

Put 'em at RT..

Let's see Mike Johnson.

I remember hearing alot about this guy during spring drills... what happened?

Even if he gives up pressure after pressure after sack he won't be making our current starter at RT look any better. All this talk about change - it's got to start somewhere.

Anyone but Capps or Tatum, for at least one series, please! There are other candidates as well, guards Stabler or M. Davis...

Thoughts?

Re: Who would you start at each OL position?

Is Marlon Davis ready to take over at the LG spot? I don't know... Stabler is RG. But I would put Mike Johnson at RT and liberally use Cardwell at center.

The OL, The OL, The OL

Yes, I myself believe that our redzone woes are due to the offensive line. Did anyone read the al.com article this morning where DJ Hall talked about that 1st series in the MS St game where we drove down to the 2 yard line only to settle for the FG? He said Caldwell was knocked way off the line on the 3rd down try and ended up on his stomach. Hall basically described the whole play where the D-line from MS St. shot through and dropped Castille for the 1-yard loss.

Well, a friend of mine who was at the game Sat. - and some of you who were there may have seen the same thing - told me about a time after one of the series where the offense came off the field and Caldwell was getting in the faces of all the linemen trying to fire them up. And Connelly - OUR LINE COACH (what a joke) was standing over away from the bench with his arms folded and in a dead stare back toward the playing field. Now, many of us have been saying for two or three years now that Connelly should've been let go a long time ago.

But this is where I'm going with this post: After my buddy telling me about Connelly's lack of enthusiasm Sat., and thinking of how we all notice the "deer in the headlights" look from CMS all the time, I have just fallen off the CMS bandwagon. :cool2: I don't think any of our coaches on the OFFENSIVE side of the ball knows anything about putting a fire under the players' butts. I believe this proves there's a lot of contentions between the offensive coaching and I believe CMS should've addressed this long before now. So as for me, I'm good with overhauling the whole staff - STARTING AT THE TOP - and get it done before Nat'l signing day for recruits. Many disagree with this, but I believe that there are several coaches eyeing what's going on that would come here in a heartbeat if offered due to the sanctions and probation starting to fizzle out. I hate it for Shula. He seems like a great guy. But like someone said on the Herb, Ray, Kelly show yesterday, a man getting paid like he does should be managing accordingly. And he AIN'T!

Roll Tide!!!

Re: Who would you start at each OL position?

Since we are talking offensive line, let me pose something to the crowd that came to me this weekend. From a post prior to Fall practice starting, we have 3 true freshmen (can't think of their names and I'm too lazy to look them up) waiting in the wings that are weight room phenoms. With the current group of OLine's lack of "want to" in the weight room, do you see the 3 muscle heads getting in the starting lineup on talent and strength? If so where does that put us? 3 RsFreshmen, a Sophomore, and Caldwell at center. A young, unexperienced line. Will we have the same problems we are having now? Just a thought.

Re: Who would you start at each OL position?

Smith - Britt - Caldwell - Ross - Stadler

I know they aren't ready physically or mentally, but I can't see them doing worse...

Would you really want to burn those redshirts this late in the season?

Re: Who would you start at each OL position?

No way would I take redshirts off this late in the season. We may be in for a couple of rough games, but we'd be doing the same throwing freshmen into the fire of Baton Rouge against the #1 defense in the country.

Smith Britt Cardwell Caldwell Tatum TE

That's what I'd go with, like a lot of others. Seriously, enough matador blocking from our RT, something has got to change if we want to even look respectable the next 2 weeks.

Re: Put 'em at RT..

i have to agree. i never wanted mike to move inside to the guard position. i liked him out there at tackle. with andre locking up the LT for the next few years, i thought mike was going to do the same with the RT position making both tackle positions strong for years to come.
