The OL, The OL, The OL
Yes, I myself believe that our redzone woes are due to the offensive line. Did anyone read the al.com article this morning where DJ Hall talked about that 1st series in the MS St game where we drove down to the 2 yard line only to settle for the FG? He said Caldwell was knocked way off the line on the 3rd down try and ended up on his stomach. Hall basically described the whole play where the D-line from MS St. shot through and dropped Castille for the 1-yard loss.
Well, a friend of mine who was at the game Sat. - and some of you who were there may have seen the same thing - told me about a time after one of the series where the offense came off the field and Caldwell was getting in the faces of all the linemen trying to fire them up. And Connelly - OUR LINE COACH (what a joke) was standing over away from the bench with his arms folded and in a dead stare back toward the playing field. Now, many of us have been saying for two or three years now that Connelly should've been let go a long time ago.
But this is where I'm going with this post: After my buddy telling me about Connelly's lack of enthusiasm Sat., and thinking of how we all notice the "deer in the headlights" look from CMS all the time, I have just fallen off the CMS bandwagon. :cool2: I don't think any of our coaches on the OFFENSIVE side of the ball knows anything about putting a fire under the players' butts. I believe this proves there's a lot of contentions between the offensive coaching and I believe CMS should've addressed this long before now. So as for me, I'm good with overhauling the whole staff - STARTING AT THE TOP - and get it done before Nat'l signing day for recruits. Many disagree with this, but I believe that there are several coaches eyeing what's going on that would come here in a heartbeat if offered due to the sanctions and probation starting to fizzle out. I hate it for Shula. He seems like a great guy. But like someone said on the Herb, Ray, Kelly show yesterday, a man getting paid like he does should be managing accordingly. And he AIN'T!
Roll Tide!!!
