Re: OLB Matt Thomas says Bama leads

Alabama has several high profile LBs visiting in the coming weeks. Jonathan Allen, a likely Jack LB target, will be in Tuscaloosa this weekend. Many expect him to make a decision soon. Possibly while on his visit. As for Thomas, he's on the lighter side. SAM LB would likely be in his future in Alabama's alignment. I still think that he ends up at Miami, barring any major NCAA sanctions against them before NSD 2013.

Yes, unless Miami get hits hard by the NCAA he should end up there, so I completely agree here. Love to have him though.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him at Alabama. He's a tremendous talent. Starting a pipeline in south Florida would be nice too. However, there are a lot of LB targets right now to actually narrow down to 4.

I agree with those saying he is unlikely to end up at Bama. The kid has serious talent and athleticism but I think we might just be a hot name right now as far as he is concerned. Him naming us as a leader is a great example of how recruiting can be a little ridiculous given that he hasn't even visited and somehow we are in the lead. I hope I'm wrong and we end up getting him

Re: OLB Matt Thomas says Bama leads

Good to know that we lead, if that is indeed true, but even so a long way to go with a murky path ahead. I think we would probably take him right now, but all of this really doesn't matter in the least because he's not announcing for another eight months anyway. It's really just all play now.

Would we take him in late January when we're down to a couple of spots left? Ah, I don't know about that, could be very close. As mentioned above, he's very much a Kwon-like prospect, and we saw how that turned out last year. It will be interesting to see what happens this time around if he can stay healthy.

Anything can happen with Miami and Golden, I suppose, but I would think with a reasonably respectable season that they would likely be the favorite here.

Keep in mind he's only a junior and has plenty of time to fill out. CJ Mosley was only 212 lbs as a senior in high school so I don't see why Thomas couldn't bulk up enough to play LB for us

Re: OLB Matt Thomas says Bama leads

After watching his films I came away very impressed. At the moment, he is kind of a tweener in a defense like UA runs but he's not even a senior in HS yet and has plenty of time to grow. I think you fill your team with talent like he displays and see if he can rise to the top is only a great thing for a team and I'd be excited if I hear our name called when he commits

In a chat last night from a paysite they said M Thomas was about to commit to UA. Either today or this weekend. And not Bone's chat. Dixie and Boots from other boards also last night stated to expect a huge commitment. Did not drop a name except said it was not Nkemdichee. So maybe it is Thomas. We will see.

Re: OLB Matt Thomas says Bama leads

Could it be Robert Foster?
Could be as well but he is suppose to come to camp in July I read so I figured he would wait.

It also could be Poggi, McNeil, or Henry since all three are rumored to be ours over the next few weeks.

But it was Thomas's name dropped in the recruiting chat. I am not sure if he visited last weekend as planned.

I would take Thomas and any of the others and all are big time, but Robert Foster would be huge.
