News Article: Ole Miss preview: Rebels usually save their A-game for Alabama

I agree with Alan on Snead and the pressure he'll get. He admitted SC rattled him. I'm sure Coach Saban heard that and saw from the tape that he was very ineffective once rattled. Our D with pressure from Dareus, Anders and a few corner blitzes from Arenas should do the trick.

I am not convinced in any way that we'll "need" to blitz to get to Snead! I think our front 4 can get to him at will unless they keep 6 in to block 4 and even then a zone or delayed blitz will get them. I also don't believe that their DB's can cover our receivers! The only receiver we have that is smaller than their DB's is Maze and all of the others are at least 2 or 3 and in some cases 4 inches taller than their DB's! That is something that ticked me off last week! We have yet to throw a fade to Julio even though when he had man coverage last week (which was rare but did happen) left him with about a 5 inch advantage in height...not to mention his leaping ability.

Also, I am fairly certain that we played it VERY close to the vest last week if you all noticed. We didn't run the wild elephant once, we didn't try trick plays, we just lined up and smacked in the mouth and wore them down on both sides of the ball.

iirc, SC was getting consistent pressure with two and three rushers. it shut the screen game down. the only success OM had moving the ball was late on those plays where mccluster outran SC to the corners. i don't think he'll consistently get the corners on our d.

Couldn't agree more! As a matter of fact if they try to use McCluster a lot I think he'll get knocked out of the game! Our LB's and DB's are too big and too strong for him to take a bunch of hits. He will likely get a maximum of 10 touches in the game and I don't see him being able to do a lot consistently. He'll get his yards, he's too good not to; however, this game isn't going to come down to one player for "lil sis".

before the season, i was a bit worried about this game more because of our recent history with both OM and Nutt.

after watching our team these last five games, i'm really looking forward to it now.

Their best chance in this game is McCluster, just as ours was with Palmer in certain games. You can bet they will use him a lot.

Ole Miss has got some playmakers but this year, more than in the past, Alabama has even more and it allows us to spread the ball around - whether it's catches or carries...that makes the difference on offense, IMO. On defense I believe we'll hit them as hard and furious as we have any team all season, and frankly, they won't like it at all...and I predict the turnover production continues, too - particularly late in the game when Ole Miss can ill afford it.

I'm a little worried about our o line handling their d line, but I think they should be far more worried about how to handle our d line. I agree with those who say their qb doesn't play well under pressure and he should feel a lot of it. I mean, SC sacked him one time with a two-man rush.... I know SC has a good d line, but I wouldn't trade it for ours (though we could use that Norwood kid in a big way with DH out).
