Don’t be distracted
This has been a strange game week for both teams. It wasn’t until Thursday when it was finalized when the game would actually be played. Before that, there was also uncertainty about where the game would be played and if it would be played. All of that can’t get in the way of doing what it takes to win.

Own third downs
South Carolina is converting on third downs just 29.2 percent of the time, second to last in the SEC. Georgia is 11th in third down defense at 40.6 percent. The Bulldogs’ six sacks are ahead of only Vanderbilt in the SEC. The Gamecocks have been sacked 11 times this season, 11th in the league.

Be on your game mentally
An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for running on the field without a helmet. Another for being offside on a kickoff. That’s 20 yards Georgia gave up to Tennessee after scoring a go-ahead touchdown with 10 seconds to play last week. It cost Georgia a win. Playing smarter could help bring a victory this time.

Get over last week
The Hail Mary touchdown pass that went against Georgia was still being talked and written about at midweek by fans and media. The players say they moved on before that, but did they really? The Bulldogs can’t let the devastating ending to a game keep it from the strides made for much of the game before that. There was still things to build off of heading into this game.

Still make big plays on offense
Georgia quarterbacks practiced this week on Tuesday and Wednesday with wet balls for the weather that Hurricane Matthew was ringing. Rain doesn’t have to mean shutting down the passing game. Alabama threw for 190 yards and a touchdown against Georgia last year in the rain on only 16 pass attempts.
