ATLANTA | Georgia running back Sony Michel dressed out and went through warm-ups, but did not play in Saturday's win over North Carolina.
“I said, ‘Hey, Sony you got all these folks fooled, man,’ because he was tearing it up,” coach Kirby Smart said. “I’m sure there were scouts and their coaches were over there going, "Good grief, he looks fast.'”
The Georgia football equipment Twitter feed even posted a photo of the running backs jerseys before the game in the locker room that included Michel's No. 1.
Michel sustained a broken left forearm in an ATV accident July 4 weekend and wore a sleeve on the arm. He was still in a non-contact jersey earlier this week.
“He’s not cleared yet,” Smart said. “He’s day-to-day.”
Georgia plays Nicholls State Saturday so Michel may be held out until the SEC opener the following week against Missouri.
