(only because it's off-season) Check out this cool bit of memorabilia I was just given (1973 Cotton Bowl "Press Guide")

A lawyer friend of mine was cleaning out his office (along with that of his partner) and came across this in his one of his partner's files. They're both Georgia fans, but apparently the partner was invited to the 1973 Cotton Bowl. He stuck this in a file and hasn't touched it since (48 years). It's in perfect condition. He gave it to me at lunch today. I'm stoked!

I just hate it that Bama lost the game! Spoiler alert: Bama lost 17-13. I was 1-1/2 years old at the time.

Don’t remember much about this game except that we lost, so I looked it up. There were 29 total pass attempts, which surprised me with two strong wishbone teams. Texas QB Alan Lowry ran it in from 34 yd near the end for the win. Roosevelt Leaks had a good game for Texas, and Wilbur Jackson scored Bama’s only TD. Field goals by Greg Gantt (50yd) and Bill Davis.

1) That is SUPER cool and in unbelievable condition!!!
2) Not one of those cats is over 5'11"or close to 200 lbs.

Granted it wasn't Coach Bryant but one of my best memories was my first ever game at Legion Field when ND came to town in 1986. What a day!

My father-in-law took me and we left the house about 3 hours before game time. I was like "why are we leaving for a football game 3 hours before kickoff"? I was new to Bham and the college football culture but quickly learned about tailgating!

As the ND players came on the field many fans started shouting "It's HOT, HOT, HOT"..."You guys are going to burn up"..."Ya'll are about to collapse with heat stroke"...etc. It was a blistering day and the ND players surely hadn't been exposed to those conditions. They were gulping fluids like they had been lost in the Mojave.

Derrick Thomas was a monster that day. He destroyed their offense even when they loaded up 2-3 guys to cover him. It was like a man playing against children. It was a great win and my father-in-law was tickled pink since he'd experienced the ND heart aches over the years.

That was my first live Alabama game and the memories are still vivid like it happened yesterday.

He must mean the players pictured.
RB Wilbur Jackson was close to 200 and Bama had plenty of players on the OL (John Hannah was around 260) and DL that were way over 200.

The reason your post hit me so funny was a few years ago there was a small bar chain here in atlanta known as jocks and jills. I was in the mens room one day doing the business when i looked up and saw an old newspaper listing of the 1965 GA TECH squad, with their names and measurements , there was not one guy over 275, everybody was so much smaller back then and that was not that long ago. That is a very short amount of time for humans to grow that much.
