As good as CK is, he will NOT equal the impact that Julio Jones had on our program, I don't care how good he is. Like I said about Ike Crowell I'll say the same about Cyrus, we want you, but we do not need you. RTR

I am in total agreement here. The impact Julio had on our program was immeasurable, because we were in a different place then. He helped put us back on the map. Now, a guy like Cyrus helps but doesn't make/break a class. We are loaded everywhere, and now we just need to coach these guys up and improve who we do have.

But I sure want Cyrus! I sure hope he makes me and many other Alabama fans happy come Wed. :BigA:

I agree 100%..In all likelihood Cyrus will RS like Fluker did to get used to college speed..As good as Cyrus is..The Andre Smith's of college football comes along once a generation(if we're lucky)..

Andre Smith would probably not start as a freshman for Bama next season either. You have to remember the state of our program then compared to now. Daylight and dark. Cyrus will start for Auburn next season without a doubt if he so chooses. But he would be our enemy as well as his brothers. Why would he put his own desire to start next season over his family and brother's unity when he can get where his ultimate goal of playing in the NFL just as quick by coming to Bama?

I could not personally tear my family apart like that no matter what my own wants could be. If my sole desire was to start immediately there is lots of places I would go besides Auburn if I was afraid of the competition at Bama. It just doesn't make sense for him to go to Auburn.

I agree concerning Julio's impact. But I also think that a pair of Kouandjios on the OL could go a long way toward number 14.

Who is the we you keep referring to? Seriously I know it is your opinion but you should not use we. I am pretty sure that CNS and the Bama staff really wants and needs Cyrus Kouandjio to sign with them on NSD.

I think what everyone is forgetting in this whole scenario, is that CK and his family could give a rat's behind about the Bama v. Barn rivalry. They are not from Alabama, there is no school that has that kind of rivalry anywhere near here, and nobody outside of SEC states pays that much attention to it. I keep seeing comments about not being able to split the family like that, and brother playing against brother, etc., but I seriously doubt that is even a consideration. It is really hard for people outside of the south to understand how most Bama and Barn fans feel about each other.

That being said, I still have to believe that it comes down to Iowa or Bama. I hope the fact that his parents didn't go on the recruiting trip to the Barn means that they don't have a shot, but I don't know. Did they go to Bama when Arie and Cyrus came down last year?

Imagine the size of the Bama O-Line in two years with Arie, Cyrus, Fluker and that new 6 foot five inch Center from Ohio they just picked up....The Average height will be about 6' 6" and weill over 300 pounds....SCARY!!!!!

There's now way of knowing this. Just like no one could have predicited the impact C.J. Mosley would have at the deepest position on Alabama's roster.

Impact of Julio was in the "we can recruit the top high school guy" but impact on the field, cyrus is bigger. Look at our offensive style and the LT is so much more important than the WR.

Is this guy, who keeps saying "we don't need him" a Bama coach or something? If he is he won't last long with CNS. Bama WILL be good without Cyrus but will be a lot better with him.
It is not up to Bama fans to say whether we "need" a recruit or not......that is up to CNS, and CNS wants and needs Cyrus in order to dominate other teams like he wants to.

Most of us Tide Fans posters know that. ;)

The idea of brothers competing against each other for me is intriguing and kind of bizarre. Didn't have time to research it a lot this morning but did find this case. Notice they were facemasking each other. It would be more apropos to the discussion if Julian had played for Michigan.

Brothers DeVier, right, and Julian Posey faced off against each other Saturday, just like they did in the back yard at their home in Cincinnati.

I guess we'll find out in a little over 25 hrs. I still hope we get him not only for his skills but his attitude and approach to life.
