Game Thread: Other games | 10/11

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I would like to point and laugh at Penn State, Oklahoma, and Florida State.

And I think Indiana is legit.

Also I do not think there are any elite teams this year. NIL/portal has not only spread talent around, it has also reduced the quality of play.

Even before the portal, there was rarely more than two elite teams any given season - and zero was more common than two...

I think it has in general reduced both the OL and DL in quality of play and that’s where games are decided.

The cohesiveness and experience with Line play is gone and we have a lot of busted plays.

It’s ugly.

Almost all games now look like an 11:00am game between Minnesota and Iowa with 3 star players colliding.

More than ever you have to have a QB who can cover up flaws.
Agreed completely. OL/DL is where it all starts and it has been since the game evolved past its Rugby roots.

It’s also why the SEC had been dominant for so long. Most of the elite high school linemen are in the SEC geographic footprint.

Ty Simpson is the difference in this team this year compared to last.

Elite may be too strong of a word but what we have now is far more parity than I ever remember before. And it’s really more to do with quality of play than anything, IMO.

Of course… we’d never seen something so consistently great as we had with Coach Saban so that’s definitely impacting my view.

College football seems to be heading the way of the NFL where mediocrity prevails, no game is really a big upset and an undefeated champion is virtually impossible.
