I think that you are pathetic for that last sentence.
Um k.

Look it, I actually have a mind. I also now live in Waco, Tx. and have seen TT play allot this year.
Yes, you went from TT by 17 to Bama winning in a close one.

I for one dont need you putting me or anyone else down in this forum.
Take your own advice.(Notes the above)

If I disagree with a mod I will say so. If your particular issue is with the spread then tell TP not me. I have simply pointed out that the game will not be a cake walk and that TT is no easy win for Alabama.
So you didn't say we should listen to TP(losing by 17) or didn't you, I'm confused.

BTW we didnt just lose to AU we got our buts kicked.

cheers
First sentence of my last post I said something regarding the Aubie game.

If you want to compare losses, then you should compare them. WE lost to Aub(#10), and TT lost to Okie St.

cheers

I thought it was if Georgia lost we would go to the Outback. If Georgia loses that would send LSU to Sugar, Auburn would be next with best record 9-2 and would go to capital and bama 9-2 would go to outback while Georgia would go to cotton and florida go next bowl. Am I wrong on this? does the SEC East winner get a better bowl than SEC West 3rd place team if they are not better?

I think people oversell Texas Tech's offense and undersell their defense. When they run up against top defenses, sometimes they do well but in other times, such as against Texas this year, a bomb goes off.

Defensively, Tech doesn't stop the run all that well, but they've got a very good pass defense. You'd kind of expect that since their defense has to go against their offense every day.

The only question I have for our defense is how would they attack Tech. Tech seems to have problems with max pressure, but we're more likely to rush three and drop eight than bring big blitzes every play.

Still, I'd be more concerned about facing one of the top three or four Big 10 teams in one of the Florida bowls. Either the Texas Tech matchup in the Cotton or the FSU matchup in the Peach favors Alabama at the moment, IMO.

Well I posted the stats they are number one in the country in scoring offence.
24th in the country in total defence ( I think ). I think could win against TT. I just dont think that this is the old TT teams of the past that were doormats of their conference. I actually would rather play FSU. Far be it for me to agree with a mod though :p

I have to agree with Jess on this one. TT has put up big offensive numbers but they beat FIU 56-3 ,Sam Houston State 80-21 and Indiana State 63-7. I think even MSU and Kentucky would've handled those pretty easily. Putting up 200 points against 3 obviously outclassed and overwhelmed 1-AA teams will go a long way in making you the NCAA scoring leader. Those 3 teams won a combined 7 games this season. TT beat Kansas and Kansas St but those teams took some big losses from others also. They also beat OU, Baylor, and aTm but a lot of teams did that. Texas destroyed them and OK St handled them too.

I'm not saying that Alabama should waltz in and destroy Texas Tech. I'm just saying that their offensive numbers, while impressive, don't tell the whole story. I was a little surprised to see how good their defensive rankings were until I researched their schedule a little. Can you imagine how much better Bama's defensive stats would look if you took out Southern Miss, Utah State, and MTSU and replaced them with 1-AA teams?

All in all, I think I'd rather see Bama line up against TT than Michigan or Ohio St or the like. Those defenses are better suited to stop Bama and their offense plays more smash-mouth football, imo.

Can someone please post where you are getting this information? I have never heard that they did bowls by division. I always thought that the bowls went down the chart and picked who they wanted. I know that the Outback hasn't gotten a Western team since Bama in 96, but when was the last time that the 3 best teams were from the West. I would say not since the alignment in 92. I am just saying don't count out the Outback until all is said and done.
The info I posted is from a bowl executive. Someone posted his explanation of how teams are chosen. Unfortunately, the post I read it from was on another forum and is now gone. The info is correct, but I cannot find the article that it came from. If there were no system for picking those two bowls, they would be fighting over the third best team every year.

If you notice on that page, the Cotton and Outback Bowls are listed as whoever vs. SEC. It doesn't say SEC #3 or whatever. Those bowls are basically considered "equal." The Cotton gets first crack at the west after the BCS and Cap One. The really crappy thing about it is that it could leave us looking at the Peach, if UGA wins. There are rumors going around that the Outback really wants USC, which would send us to the Peach if LSU loses.

I really do not understand why anyone has a problem with the Peach Bowl...it, not the Cotton, was the bowl that came closest to being added to the BCS.

After SEC formulas and divisions, we're looking at a difference of about $57,000 dollars.

Alabama vs. Florida State would get just as much, if not more, attention than anything we would do in the Cotton Bowl.

I do not see the "prestige" of a Jan. 2 bowl played at 10am in cold weather at a crappy stadium. If Mal is that obsessed with the Old School thought process perhaps we should go ahead and start playing at Legion Field again.

I think the Peach Bowl is a better situation all the way around.

Tex Tech will be a for more difficult foe than many on here seem to think...those that think we'll just waltz out to Dallas and whip their butt can't see that our problems are bigger than probation and injuries...TT can and will score lots of points on us...can we score with them is the question...based on what I have seen this year - no way we can...

It doesn't really matter a great deal to me which one we get in. The Peach would probably be a better game, and a cheaper road trip for sure. If we end up in Dallas, I plan to make the most of the trip, though. I am probably going to try to get some tickets to see the Cowboys play the Rams on Jan 1.

The main consideration for me is to have a good time on NYE. I've had a blast in Atlanta before on NYE, but I've never been to Dallas except to change flights once. I'll be there, where ever we go. We will probably end up in the Peach if LSU loses. I can get a bigger group of friends up for the Peach as well.

As long as it isn't Shreveport or Nashville, I'll be happy.
