Edit: I am not trying to come after you Crimson, you just happened to be a convenient hopping off point in the conversation.

This is the crux of American's attitude towards the wealthy. Americans believe that if someone is wealthy, they obviously deserve it. To deserve it they must be smart. If they are smart, they must be a better decision maker when it comes to how they spend their tax money. So keep taxes low, let them pick the charity they want to donate to because the government is stupid.

Bezos effectively just decided that his charity for the Dutch is to help them preserve a historic bridge just after his new boat gets past it.

I have a difficult time imagining a company, large and sophisticated enough to build a yacht that huge, not planning on how to deliver the ship past the bridge.
There has to be more to this story.
