Auburn is never winning a national championship with Gus Malzahn as it’s head coach. But he sure as hell has Nick Saban’s number, and that’s really all that matters to them.
One final thing, on the play at the end where Alabama had too many in formation and gives Auburn a first down: For the love of God, how does that happen? We have analysts on top analysts down there. How is it that know one picks up on that immediately? Even middling teams have coaches that pick up on trick formations immediately. We got coaches on top of coaches and we let a nose picking, booger eating coach from Toad Suck, AR do that?
Unbelievable.
Or with Bo Nix for that matter. He had a handful of good passes, but he was rather pedestrian to me. If we took care of our gaps and even got off the field a few more times on 3rd downs we win.Auburn is never winning a national championship with Gus Malzahn as it’s head coach. There was nothing about Auburn’s performance at all that was anything but pedestrian. What they did do, and this is to be commended, is they allowed us to bury ourselves. What’s the adage about not interrupting your enemy when he’s making a mistake? That’s what they did. Give Gus credit for that...Or with Bo Nix for that matter. Yep - Alabama handed them the game. Auburn played poorly, but not poorly enough to lose.
Lots of issues to take a look at for Saban this off season, hopefully he changes anything that needs changing.
Winning obfuscates a lot of bad stuff. The loss to Auburn is going to force Saban to at least look at some things that might have otherwise gone unaddressed in years past. I am curious as to the choices that he will make over the next 6 weeks to address them.
Thanks - I agree with the PP who said that the Sugar is out. The SEC has ties to the Orange Bowl, but they have to choose between an SEC school and a B1G school. Would they take Alabama or Penn State?
The Cotton bowl can take the best team still available after the other NY6 bowls pick their teams, but they also have to take the highest ranked group of five team. If Alabama is still there, they probably jump. But does anyone want to watch that game - Alabama vs. Group 5 winner? Frankly, I am not sure if most Alabama fans would even watch that kind of stupid match-up. So I really hope that Alabama does not end up in that game.
I've had the same thought. I think that at least part of the problem is the way our schedule has become so back-loaded. The guys go along playing patsies and then, suddenly, they start facing real teams. I think the same factor hurt us last year...And that's what is so maddening and frustrating. Hate doing the shoulda woulda could but....Bama should have beaten Auburn by 2 or more scores. Still would have given up over 30 points but should have scored in the 50s. Too many mistakes, untimely penalties, etc.
Further, Bama should have beaten LSU. That 1st half was full of the same mistakes and penalties we saw yesterday.
What is it about big games that cause this team to completely wet themselves these days. And even with all the mistakes and penalties and the horrid defense we were still in both games.

I don't know. I wish I felt as confident as you did. No one works harder than Coach Saban. He works non-stop even when he isn't working. He has probably spent countless hours after the Clemson loss trying to put the pieces back together. What is it about this year that has been so un-Sabanlike in a year that they were supposedly wanting to get the Bama factor back?Winning obfuscates a lot of bad stuff. The injuries in the summer killed us before we even got going. The other injuries along the way certainly didn't help. Tua getting injured against Tennessee pretty much ended our season. A healthy Tua vs. LSU would have most likely given us the win and a healthy Tua yesterday would have destroyed auburn. That hurts me to the core. Why, why. why? God has a plan, and I have to trust Him in all things but I just wish it didn't have to involve us losing our once in a generation player.
I'm still heartbroken and didn't sleep. I wish I didn't take it so seriously. God is still dealing with me on that. I love Alabama too much I guess. Roll Tide!

This is wishful thinking. He’s too stubborn to do that with the defense. And the discipline has been an issue for years. It is what it is.
Right there with you. The Tua injury did us in. But then we are back to mental fortitude. We were close but ultimately simply did not have enough to overcome that adversity.I don't know. I slept fine, but I had a shot of limoncello and 2 glasses of scotch and a couple of beers.
