I called this earlier in the season and said Petrino would leave the Falcons after one year but I had him taking over at LSU. :PDTC_029:

I dont think the media will bury Petrino for these reasons.
1. Petrino goes to ATL before Pit Bull "Gate". Petrino lost his QB and all has gone downhill since.
2. Petrino has not declared that he would stay in ATL.
3. Media has been sympathetic to Petrino.
4. It sounds like it will be a huge pay cut. From over $4 mill. to the high $2mill or $3 mill range.

Much the same as Alabama, Petrino will have to get "his guys" to make things work in his system.

If McFadden stays, however, all bets are off...

I have always thought that you have to play the best to be the best and hopefully some of those recruits that are still on the fence will think so too.

CNS will do his thing and recruit players that won't shy away from the competition. I would hope that they would welcome it.

There's hope yet! I wish he'd take a look at another high profile job though and end up someplace that Alabama won't have to play his team every year darnit!

Falcons Coach Bobby Petrino abruptly resigned Tuesdsay as head coach to take the head coaching job at Arkansas, the Falcons confirmed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Petrino called about 5:45 p.m. and resigned

The thing that gets me is that people were going to give him a free pass on this year because of Ookie's legal problems. He was going to have the draft and free agency to rebuild, yet he packed it at the first chance he could get.

I feel sorry for Arkansas' players. Taking order from Petrino, Grobe, and Tuberville. It has to be confusing. :D

Seriously, a great hire for Arky and SEC West just got a whole lot tougher. It will be interesting to see how well he recruits there considering limited in-state talent, Saban and Miles mining Louisiana, and everyone recruits Texas.

Petrino told the seniors at louisville that he was not going to leave. He told the Atlanta media last week that he would be back next year also. Yes he did lie.

His offensive philosophy will draw players. He was able to recruit in Louisville, I don't see him being in too much trouble.

petrino lost this team early in the year. D'angelo hall has been out of control undermining his authority on and off the field, local talk radio has grilled him all year for not taking a stand against some of the more outspoken team members


Now I have been listening to 680 the fan, actually facon fullback Obie muhale(spelling?) has a segment of the buck and kincaid show, he found out on the air, it wasn't pretty... one more thing, 680 the fans rob tribble doing the sports break lead off with 'the atlanta falcons have been Sabaned'

I dont see Cowher coaching next season.Maybe in 2 years but I think he was really burned out and needs at least 2 years to recoup.Plus I think he wants to wait until all of his girls are done with college.
