TMI here, but here goes anyway:
My Dad was a life time Sooners fan, as that was where he went to undergrad. Funny thing is, he never passed one single thing along to me about or from Oklahoma while he was alive. Only after he passed did I get a souvenir football from their 2000 season, simply because nobody else in the family wanted it. When I was young, and before he and my mom parted ways, I never watched a single Oklahoma game with him. For a while when I was young, he was a modest Alabama fan, having introduced me to Coach Bryant when I was really young. We did, however, watch one football game together, the second of the home and home games in 2003.
I watched the 2003 Alabama/OU game at his house, and if you remember, from the start it was just not a fun game for us. And with him at his house, the game was abysmal, as he repeatedly danced in front of me whenever OU was doing well, and especially when OU recovered the final onside kick. So, that left me with a bad taste in my mouth for OU. Otherwise he was a relatively good guy, but absolutely not when it came to OU sports. Toward the end, he truly started to despise Alabama football with all of our successes with CNS. He's my one and only connection to OU football and its fans.
