One question going into the early signing period has been answered. After waffling just prior to the early signing period, Rico Pickett of Decatur (Ala.) High School signed his name to a letter-of-intent Wednesday morning.
Pickett Oficially On Board

Looks like he's headed to the Capstone. Great job CMG and staff!

This is great news. I think we really needed this kid.

I am afraid Steele will go pro after this year. It would be nice to have Pickett step right in if this happens although we all hope Steele comes back for his senior year.

I honestly think Steele will stay until he graduates....even though he could have been drafted this year.....he always talks about wanting to stay and get his degree and especially after kennedy winston he doesnt wanna take a chance.

I definitely wont argue if he wants to stay for a while

Actually, Steele is on pace to graduate this coming May. This makes me wonder if he is going to leave after this year because he will have his degree...which is what he wants before he goes pro. I could also see him staying to play his fourth year just because of his loyalty and dedication. I think we can all agree on one thing though...I hope Steele plays well enough to be a first round draft pick this year because that only means good things for the Tide!

i think if he has a good year this season he will leave. it is too dangerous not to. if he gets hurt his senior year his nba career could be over.

I will will still support Steele if he chooses to enter into the draft this year.... if he has his degree. That is what you go to college for, and I wish him well if he graduates and leaves early. Of course, I would love for him to stay, don't get me wrong.

I think you go to college to prepare yourself for the real world. And if the real world is throwing millions at you, then what is 15 or 30 hours until a diploma when your goal is to succeed and make a living. I'm getting my master's and if someone offered me my dream job starting in the spring, I would jump on it no questions asked. Certain opportunities are only there once and you have to take them.
