Plans for Tonight -

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

My wife and I will watch the game from our home.
I plan to grill some Chicken Wings and eat before the game.
I'll probably have some Chips and Salsa to snack on during the game.

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

Best that I've seen. There are some other fantastic TV's, but this one is one step beyond.
As a public service announcement because I did a lot of research prior to buying a TV last year(dec 15, 2017) , I searched through a lot of electronic rating sites as to best picture on a budget. Found one, a Sony XBR900F , went to Best Buy to see it in person before making my purchase. I think it was on sale around $1200. When I arrived at Best Buy, I was blown away by the LG OLED . It was $2700 on sale from $3200. I left and did more research for Best TV Picture . It was the LG OLED C7A . But it was a little more than I wanted to spend, so I searched like crazy and found an internet Christmas offer for $1700. Nervously Bought it, waited nervously for 2weeks for shipping . It arrived and I couldn’t be happier. The public service announcement is you can’t find a better picture. Pull up 10 electronics ratings sites, any 10 - consumer reports, CNET, PC mag , rtings, etc . At least 9 will have the LG rated the highest and the 10th will have a Sony, which uses LG OLED display screens but Sony’s software. The Samsung QLED is catching up, but isn’t there yet. Ok, back to the thread.

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

Staying at in-laws this week (as we always do) watching all the games together. F-I-L is a HOF former HS coach & small college AA QB in 60s' ... Bro-in-Law is HS coach. My wife grew up watching film with her dad. Lots of fun to watch and listen with them.

We do a bowl pick'em every year with everyone in the family (20+ people). My wife has won it 2X and is blowing us all away again this year. We have a 6' perpetual trophy that stays in my in-laws house with the winner's name etched on it each year.

Everybody in the family except my youngest (7) and B-I-L youngest (6) know what's going on. My 12-yr old daughter is amazingly knowledgeable and really gets into it.

Ate some good seafood last night so our traditional gameday burgers are on the menu today, I think.

I woke up at 3:30am this morning thinking about the game so I'll need a nap during the Arizona Bowl :D

only 12 hours 52 minutes til kickoff!

We are staying home to watch the game. We always watch at home unless we actually attend the game. I don't like to watch with friends or crowds. I have to concentrate on every play.. am not in to socializing during the game.

Sometimes I get so focused/emotional that my husband and my dog have to go to the other room to watch it.

I probably won't be able to eat dinner due to pre game anxiety.

Almost bit on the C7 last year but waited for various reasons and finally got the C8. Normally would look for the deal but could not wait and wanted some of the new features over the lower price. Worth it? Yes, compared to other brands and I don't know compared to the C7. Like I said before - closest thing to plasma I've seen. My Panasonic is 9 years old and still has a great picture (I did get a deal on it).

I could go on and on about that, but won't. I'm hoping I'll go back to sleep shortly and awake in time for the first bowl game.

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

I know exactly what you mean. I've been with people in big Bama games who didn't even know who won the game once it ended. I've learned over the years that a lot of the people who watch college football don't actually care about college football. It's a cultural thing, and that's fine, but I can't do that. I need to actually hear the announcers and keep up with what is going on in as much detail as possible. A lot of thought goes into where and with whom I watch the game. If I choose to watch a big Bama game with someone, it's a big thing for me. It's like inviting someone to a wedding, but more intimate. Not many people understand this.
Masterfully put.

And about sums it up for me...

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

Just started the day with cheese biscuits, sausage, grits, and a nice over easy egg.

The scotch will have a nice landing place later this afternoon.

Re: Plans for Tomorrow Night -

I work a half day, but did take off the following Monday and Tuesday as I have done for a few years now.

Yeah I messed that up too. I’ve never seen Bama win the CFP. It’s been afterwards that I’ve seen the games. Saw the loss to tOSU and Clemson. I think that changes this year. I’m teaching in the day time this season.

Unless we are at BDS, it is usually just hubby, the dog, and me. Occasionally, we’ll get together with friends or family, but we are VERY selective about who, and they HAVE to understand it isn’t a social event. Depending on how the game is going, I am either fired up, jumping and yelling because we are kicking butt, or sitting quietly because I’m too frustrated about how the game is going. Hubby does the opposite—when the game is rolling along in our favor, he says very little. When it isn’t, he’s yelling and cussing. I expect to be whooping and hollering tonight while he sits quietly. 😃

Last time I watched an Alabama game - any Alabama game - with someone not family or in the stadium (or work) was the 2015 Twelvessee game. We had chile at a couple's house we have been friends with forever. We had a great time since they know how to watch a football game and they are among the few with whom I'd look forward to a similar experience.

My 55” LG PLASMA is 9 years old, It’s now mounted on the wall in my bedroom. Still looks great, I heard people are selling old Plasma panels for $600-700. Still. Hard to beat! I slept 3 hours, maybe anxious for the game , I don’t know!
