JessN: Potential transfer portal targets as Bama remakes its roster

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Yep. Four million is stupid money.

As to why UGA moved on? My thought is they had already implemented their recruiting/portal NIL budget plan under the assumption Beck would be heading to the NFL, not returning for a final year. Possibly there wasn’t money there to meet his asking price? Plus it seems Stockton is their future. Might alienate him pushing him to the bench for another year, and see him jump in the spring portal.
Their fans have turned on him, after proclaiming him the most clutch QB in SEC history two weeks ago

How many players are we losing to the NFL or ineligibility?
Not the portal.
Not very many.

Early draft
Milroe booker Campbell
Eligibility
Moore (safety) que rob (de) Tim Smith(dt), Dipre (te), nicholson(k) burnip (p) hibbet (ls)

And that's it as far as starters go. I may have missed someone but we didn't have a ton of seniors to begin with.

Would love to have q rob back another yeear, unfortunately he happened to come to TTown at the same time as 3 really hood edge players.

I'd love to grab another DT for experienced depth but other that James Smith as a full time starter could have a break out year.

My only concern is our size at DT. Kennan is really the only one we have over 300 lbs. Smith is right around 300 lbs so I would love to get a 320-330 gap stuffer guy in the portal.

We see what Miami's QB NIL model is. If Beck signs with them it will be their 3rd QB who transferred in to start. You don't build a very good QB room doing it that way but it seems some are doing it this way.
It may not be Miami's model; it may just be difficult to get out of that cycle. It seems like an awful risky way to function.

Building with portal transfers in general reminds me of the teams in the past that would build up from Junior College Transfers. The teams would cycle up and down every one or two years.
