Unless they’ve (the staff) locked the whole process down it doesn’t look like we even took a swing at any. Pretty disappointing reallyGuess we're not getting anyone from final teams from playoff.

If youre correct it is disappointing , but we really have no clue what’s going on anymore…Unless they’ve (the staff) locked the whole process down it doesn’t look like we even took a swing at any. Pretty disappointing really
My hope is this is an NIL readjustment. Setting priorities going into the spring to secure depth needed from current players and shop for “value” in those that are in the portal. Horton, Dewberry, Hill-Green and DB from Utah look to be solid adds. But I also expected the possibility of adding another couple of players as teams exited the playoffs. If youre correct it is disappointing , but we really have no clue what’s going on anymore…

After the first four loss season in 17 years, I think we as fans naturally expect more activity in the portal. And, let also add more shake ups in the coaching staff.
The silence is uncomfortable.
Well said cdub - Mrs Snuffy & I actually watched both NFL games and were more interested in them than any of this year’s playoff or bowl games, and that unfortunately includes the Alabama game, and she has NEVER shown much interest in the NFL. The current version of CFB is just not very fun to watch and very exhausting to try to follow in the off season. At this point I'll wait and let the chips fall. It is too exhausting keeping up with early commits, early decommits, late commits, late decommits, portal out, portal in, etc. I'll root for the Tide on Saturday for the time being and what not but getting much more emotional investment from me will be tough to do.
A lot more fun watching a guy who is on a 4 year contract play than to watch someone who may or may not be wearing the same jersey in a few weeks. Crazy to think that the NFL has guys with more allegiance to their team than college ball does now.Well said cdub - Mrs Snuffy & I actually watched both NFL games and were more interested in them than any of this year’s playoff or bowl games, and that unfortunately includes the Alabama game, and she has NEVER shown much interest in the NFL. maybe NIL has been an elaborate scheme by the NFL this whole time to draw die hards away from the college game!A lot more fun watching a guy who is on a 4 year contract play than to watch someone who may or may not be wearing the same jersey in a few weeks. For those who grew up during this amazing 17 year span of being at or near the top. A little mental preparation may be in order. Imagine if you will you're a horse in a long double line of horses towing a cart. Like the old bud beer commercials. Once you fall beyond the lead horse, the view never changes no matter how "close" to the front you are. Sorry. My hope is this is an NIL readjustment. It is becoming like CBB - one and done. Not totally done, but done for your school.A lot more fun watching a guy who is on a 4 year contract play than to watch someone who may or may not be wearing the same jersey in a few weeks. As I look over the potential depth chart, there are only two spots that it seems an additional transfer might make sense. OT and CB. At OT it would be nice to have someone to push Formby and proctor to make sure they continue to improve. At CB, even with the Utah kid, we only have 3 non-true-freshmen at the position now, and even one of the TF is kinda likely to slide over to S at some point. My hope is this is an NIL readjustment. IMO, another OT won't matter because you o linemen are not well coached. As I look over the potential depth chart, there are only two spots that it seems an additional transfer might make sense. So far I’d have to agree.IMO, another OT won't matter because you o linemen are not well coached.
Have to wonder about what the level of “ value added “ is as it pertains to price tag that comes from being a contributor on a playoff team. Somebody like a starting O lineman on a playoff team probably gets quite the bump in what he can demand.Unless they’ve (the staff) locked the whole process down it doesn’t look like we even took a swing at any. As i've said before, I'm willing to give this past season a mulligan. When the QB is literally shifting the protection away from the other teams best pash rusher and away from the obvious blitz it's going to make the OL look pretty bad.So far I’d have to agree.
Perhaps you have a point ( ? ). I really hope so.As i've said before, I'm willing to give this past season a mulligan. When the QB is literally shifting the protection away from the other teams best pash rusher and away from the obvious blitz it's going to make the OL look pretty bad.
The coach could still end up sucking. I just can't make a call based on last year.
I'll just choose to imagine the OL coach standing on the sideline with his head in his hands like Tommy Rees was doing vs Texas in 2023.As i've said before, I'm willing to give this past season a mulligan. It probably happened. Against USCe, there were several times where USCe loaded one side and we rolled protection away, and other times when the D set was more even but they had their best pass rusher to one side and we called the protection away from him so the OT had ZERO hope for help, and then the side we rolled to, had 3 guys blocking one dude. It was INSANE.I'll just choose to imagine the OL coach standing on the sideline with his head in his hands like Tommy Rees was doing vs Texas in 2023.
Transition years can be hard to call on stuff like this, but I will say that Mike Shula was NOT that bad a coach, but his fatal flaw, and the flaw that I'm thinking may have held him back in the pro's, is that he always separated in his mind results vs the man. Fact is not everyone can do this job well. Doesn't mean they are bad people, they just don't have the gift. One bad year can be blamed on many things but if we get half way into year two and the offense still isn't working. Well sadly someones going to get fired. Either some offensive staff are going to get fired or DeBoer is going to get fired for not doing his job, his job is to compete for a championship. Invariably that will sometimes require him to fire people. Even people he personally likes. For Saban some will think this was easy. I don't believe that for a second, I'm betting it was very hard, but in Saban's mind the end result always outweighed everything else including his comfort. I don't know if DeBoer is the kind of guy that has that sort of internal fortitude. He didn't appear to show it last year. He defended his players and coaches no matter how badly they sucked. Personally I'd rather he just say we suck and it's my fault. At least then I'd know we are all on the same page. BECAUSE IT SUCKED! Everybody is getting paid big bucks now. This is no longer an amateur sport. The days of tiptoeing around college players and coaches because they were guys trying to "win one for the gipper" are way over.As i've said before, I'm willing to give this past season a mulligan. Maybe, but I did not see consistent play from any of the players on the o line. Even Booker, who will be a pro bowl guy in the NFL, had some really bad moments. And they definitely did not play as a cohesive unit.As i've said before, I'm willing to give this past season a mulligan.
