Weren't they running the draft as a sort-of covid-19 telethon? If that's the case, it would have been in their best interest to interrupt it with as few outside advertisements as possible (so they wouldn't have to turn off their bottom ticker which was showing the donation bits)

I have no idea the format they were running. Didn't pay that much attention. LOL!

P.S.- Now that I think about it. I'm not so sure companies would be willing to pay even normal rates much less higher rates. Just from the simple fact of their own revenue streams being impacted due to the pandemic, and depending on budget adjustments (which probably include but definitely not limited to) advertising spending. You have to think that even though a lot of people would be watching, doesn't mean a lot of people are in a position of buying. The economic impact of COVID-19 on people's pocket book and discretionary income has only begun to set in and will probably last well beyond any football season we may or may not have. But that's just my line of thinking.

I am not sure advertisers would even be able to afford to pay their normal amount either. I could see a pay per view scenario to offset the loss of revenue. No not everyone could afford to pay to watch all the games but I remember well the 3 channel days when Bama played on the tube 3 times a year or so.

Some of my best memories with my dad was listening to John Forney's play by play of Bama football games on the radio!! If I couldn't afford to watch a game on pay per view I would have no problem listening to Eli's play by play of the game on the radio!! What ever it takes to get it done....we need football!!! ;)
