President Trump Delivers 2026 SOTU address & Democratic Response - 2-24-26 at 9pm ET

"Settle in folks, we've got seven years to go," said Trump as his speech reached hour nineteen. "It's a brilliant plan, speaking through my third term, really very smart. I thought of it myself, did you know that? The Democrats, they never thought of it, if you can believe it. Now we have them in what I like to call 'checkmate'. Chuck over there, he isn't very happy about it, but there's nothing he can do. He's not even allowed to take a bathroom break, poor Chuck. I told the guards not to let him, and with Chuck's prostate, that's going to be a problem, let me tell you."

He simply does not have the ability to unite our country, nor does he even modestly try. I just can't sit through dozens of half and full lies/campaign rally speeches he gives. There's a wide difference between motivational speech/highlighting the good in things/accepting you can't make everyone happy while trying to unite the country and the self aggrandizing, mean, divisive language he uses. His followers don't seem to be able to see it, but well over half of the country does.

Honestly ever since the Obama SOTUA in which we heard a guy heckling that the president is a liar I was pretty much done for the event. There really is nothing to see or gain from watching it. It’s just a bunch of patricians acting like fools and pretending that they actually care about us plebs.
I'm with you. I haven't watched one in years no matter who is the president. It's all just theatre and means nothing. I would rather sit in a dark room alone and stare into nothingness.

I'm not sure anyone can "unite" the country, and if there were someone with the ability to do so they couldn't get out of the primaries of either party. The base of both have become too radicalized for a pragmatic problem solver to get elected. Reagan nor Clinton could win a primary election in these two parties.
