Question: "Prisoners run the prison." Can we no longer infer meaning to phrases?

All I'm saying is that I can see how some might dislike that characterization. Since it's typically considered bad management to upset the employees your organisation requires to function en masse, what he said was dumb. And he obviously recognizes that.
Organisation? When did you become British? [emoji23]

What the owner said was stupid but not racist. It was the players who wrongly took offense to a butcher statement. The player should have to apologize for making this non-story into a story.

I have always heard the phrase as inmates running the asylum.

A stupid thing to say, but I don’t think he was being racist.

Snyder saying 96% were against the players was also stupid. I don’t think he really believes that, he just threw out a big number.

McNair's claim is he wasn't speaking about the players. If true, then I would react differently than above.
"As I said [Friday], I was not referring to our players when I made a very regretful comment during the owners meeting last week," McNair said in a statement. "I was referring to the relationship between the league office and team owners and how they have been making significant strategic decisions affecting our league without adequate input from ownership over the past few years."

His amended statement isn’t making sense. If he doesn’t want prisoners running the prison, why is he upset the league office (the prison) is making decisions without consulting the owners (the prisoners).

Because it's pretty clearly damage control.

At the risk of hijacking the thread, briefly tell me what is wrong with the prison system. If there are people in there that haven't been convicted of breaking the law by a jury of their peers I agree if it's something else I don't buy it.

It was a dumb thing to say considering the heightened sensitivity in this day and age. I'm probably one of the least sensitive individuals here, but considering the context uttered, it was a gaffe to say the least. Apologize, move on and play ball.

As for the whole knee thing...it's stupid as well. Say what you want, but as I mentioned in another thread, Kap only started doing it after he got benched. He wasn't a SJW until he needed the publicity to try and recapture some momentum and it backfired on him.

Like with many political issues, there are no adults in the room.

We are lost as a free society ................. I'll say it (at the risk of joining the bigots and racists of the world), The inmates truly are running the prison (or asylum or whatever other word helps you sleep better at night). Our country is getting ready to fall apart at the seams.

So your are saying is that U.S.A. as a country is currently having a mental breakdown? Truly a scary thought.
