Turner disclosed in September 2018 that he was suffering from Lewy body dementia, a brain disorder that affects memory and other cognitive functions.

So Sorry To Hear About The Passing Of The Great Ted Turner! The Man That Created Cable Before Cable Was Cool! He Created CNN And Look At It Now! He Rolled The Dice And Wasn’t Afraid Of Taking Risks. He Won The America’s Cup For Sailing! His Office Looked Like The Hall Of Fame Which Included A Picture Of Him And Khrushchev. On Top Of All Of That, He Created So Many Opportunities For So Many Wrestlers Because Of His Love For Wrestling. Rest In Peace My Friend! Thank You For The Memorable Personal Times That We Spent Together.
This reminds me of when Turner bought WCW. For a little while there, he was actually winning the ratings war against Vince McMahon.
Watched Braves baseball on Super Station WTBS in the 80's was fantastic! Up until the cancelled post-season - when I lost all enthusiasm for pro baseball.
If there wasn't a Braves game on there were Cubs games on WGN - the other Super Station.
The only night that was different was Wednesday "Game of the Week" night. And even on those nights sometimes it was the Braves or Cubs!

I alternate between this and feeling like he helped push division by making the news seem like it needed 24-hour coverage.
It was likely inevitable anyway, so I’ll go with kindness and side with visionary without an asterisk, as he truly was…
True, that's what CNN has become. Was it always like that? I don't know because I didn't have access to CNN in the early years (parents were too cheap to buy cable). At any rate, I believe that many, many people have so little going on in their lives that they clamor to join a tribe of some sort, so they can act the fool in the comfort of the company of other fools. It could be grown men Georgia fans barking in public. It could be members of donkey tribe using their free time due to un/underemployment blocking traffic to keep other people from getting to their jobs. Lot of versions of losers out there.
So, I'll go back to appreciating anyone who supplies a market demand, especially on a large scale. Turner created billions in wealth, which was spread among his employees and shareholders and anyone downstream who engaged in commerce with the above people. Turner may have been a good guy or a jerk. Don't know. I do know he improved the financial standing of thousands of people. And that's good enough for me.

Turner gave me the Braves as a kid on TBS. Some of my favorite sports memories are the great Braves teams of the early 1990's. I also grew up a wrestling fan so he gave me what I wanted there as well. I have to say he made my childhood better with the entertainment he provided me.
I will never forget Sid Bream sliding into home plate in the bottom of the 9th to win the pennant during the worst to first year.
WCW Nitro was a staple of my adolescence. I loved the early NWO. A bad guy Hogan was such a cool idea.
The reimagining of Sting into the crow character was sheer brilliance.
