1) 1992 Sugar Bowl - an absolute blast. We had two suites in the dome.

2) 1982 Cotton Bowl - fun game and trip except the outcome. Got to see Cowboys v. Bucs in a playoff
game the next day.

3) 1982, night game at Baton Rouge.

4) 2001 Independence Bowl. We hit the casino as soon as we got to town and I made enough to cover the trip
on slots in 15 minutes.

5) 1975 at Vandy. It was a beautiful early fall day.

6) 1990s annual road trip to Austin with some UT alums.

7) 1978 Georgia at Auburn. We needed a Georgia win or tie. It was tie. :)
I was at the 1975 Vandy game as well...beautiful day.

1. Wrigley Field. There's just no better place to watch a baseball game.
2. AT&T Park (or whatever it's called now) in San Fran.
3. Mercedes-Benz Stadium - really nice venue, great concessions prices.
4. Superdome - got the dub vs. Clemson, and they serve jambalaya and Dixie beer in the concession stands!
5. Coors Field - the view of the Rocky Mountains is really cool, as is the beer selection.

Other places I've seen games that don't make my top 5: Neyland Stadium, Starkvegas, Vandy, LP Field (Titans), Truist Park, Petco Park (San Diego), Miller Park (Milwaukee), both White Sox stadiums (old and new), Fenway Park (historic, but that's really all it has going for it), Yankee Stadium (not bad), Minute Maid Park (Astros), Tropicana Field (Rays - just awful), Georgia Dome (Falcons).

I expect with the Titans getting Julio I'll be watching all their games this year. But hey, they are the Houston Oilers :)

That was an interesting experience from the band...both bands were in the same endzone for some reason. We saw the "infamous" field goal that Iowa State "definitely hit" and the refs "gave the game." It was obvious from our terrible seats that he just barely missed it...

Also, my dad and sister left that game early to beat the traffic and could not understand why I called him after the game all excited about the win. #RealFansStayToTheEnd and #BandMembersCantLeaveEarly or whatnot :)

I am glad the days of being excited over a win over Iowa State in the Independence Bowl are over. I hope they never return.

I’ve always felt that I was the only one that had that opinion. They were total donkeys that day. The stadium makes you wonder why they are considered a SEC team. Really the only thing about Ole Miss that anyone talks about is the Grove… to which I was underwhelmed. It just felt like a crowd of people in a big square. I really think that Alabama and LSU have better tailgating arrangements. And yes… it was extremely hot that day. It rained about an hour before the game and the sun did the rest.
The closeness and layout of the tailgating tents in The Grove reminded me of those squatter camps you see in 3rd world countries, and of course The Grove is much more luxurious in comparison.

I see some mentions of Jerryworld as a great road experience. I honestly cannot stand it for a college football experience. It's too "sterile" and the acoustics are awful. I get why it may be the best NFL stadium, but not for a college game.

As for my best road experiences (I assume this was college football):

1 - Clemson (think the Aggies and Tigers formed an affinity when they visited College Station, that was repaid in 2019 when we visited). Nice campus in rolling hills and nice fans.

2 - St Louis for Big 12 Championship: KSU fans were great, exciting game.

3 - Kickoff Classic 1998: Had a great time in NYC with some Florida State fans. Fans in McSorelys Irish pub each sang their fight songs, um... after several rounds... which then devolved into all of us singing the National Anthem together for some reason... haha.

Worst road experiences...

Any trip to Austin...

Notre Dame a close second (obnoxious fans, overrated atmosphere IMO).

Weirdest experiences...

Nebraska - The fans were "too nice". Felt like I was in the Truman Show

Texas Tech - For a native Texan to be repulsed by the redneckedness, says a lot...

1. LSU (2016) - I went into this game expecting the worst fans, but was pleasantly surprised how nice the fans were. No other site has invited me for as much food as this one. The campus is beautiful and the stadium was as loud as advertised even though it was a boring game.

2. Tennessee (2014 & 2018) - The stadium itself is a dump in much need of updating, especially on the outside, but it’s a very large crowd and gets loud. I love going up and spending time in the smokies at that time of year.

3. Auburn (2011) - Auburn didn’t score on offense that day and was one of the few blowouts in JH. The stadium was nicer than Tennessee’s, but the campus was just ok. Luckily Auburn was down and I didn’t have to deal with any obnoxious fans.

4. Ole Miss (2014) - By far the most obnoxious fans I’ve been around. This was probably due to Gameday being there for the first time. The stadium was nothing impressive, but the campus was beautiful. Can’t really rate the Grove. It was so crowded you couldn’t move, so I just avoided it.

5. Arkansas (2014) - The Ozark Mountains and the rolling hills on campus were nice. The stadium was middle of the road. The rain and poor play by Bama that day probably drops this one a little bit.

6. South Carolina (2019) - The campus is really nice with the horse shoe area making it feel like you’re stepping back to the 1800’s, but the Stadium is two miles away and feels like you’re going to a NFL game. Extremely hot.

7. Miss State (2013) - The stadium is nicer than Ole Miss’ and I was glad I sat in the Bama section and avoided my ears ringing from cowbells. Would like to go back to see how it feels with the end zone addition. The campus was nothing impressive. It’s really spread out and felt like you’re out in the middle of country Mississippi.

8. Kentucky (2013) - The stadium wasn’t impressive and it was hard to tell where the campus was. Very much in the city, but some of the nicest fans.

9. Vanderbilt (2001) - The least impressive stadium of them all. The stadium was mostly Alabama fans and felt like a home game. The campus is small, but pretty.

I’ll be traveling to Florida and Texas A&M this year and look forward to judging these to the other road games.

A couple of summers ago my wife and I drove by their campus on the way up to Eureka Springs. I was pretty impressed by the Stadium from the outside. I imagine they've benefited as much as any other school in the conference from cashing those end-of-the-year SEC checks.

I'd like to go to a game there.

We will go worst to first now!

Auburn - I’m so tempted to never go back to this place. It was horrible in 2019. Everyone knows what happened, but the fans were bad, just horrendous, on top of that I was sick with something. I HATE AUBURN FANS EVEN MORE NOW. Just despicable!

Knoxville - 2000 It wasn’t bad overall. Just a long drive. The fans were not bad, but it truly is a bad stadium, even back then. We lost 20-10.

Knoxville - 2020 Actually had a great time. No fans sitting around me and my wife. Smoked a cigar, had a choice drink or three. We destroyed them although Waddle got hurt.

Starkville - 2019 AirBnB with MSU fans. Tua was lighting them up. I was beyond lit, almost got kicked out of the stadium. MSU fans hated me until halftime and all of a sudden they loved me. Sat on the front row. I was running up and down the row. Making everyone laugh. Just a great time. Tua got hurt and whatever buzz I had immediately left. Where he got hurt, I was like right on the yardline. I was yelling throw it away. He didn’t 😖

I have not been to many road games but here are some of my experiences.
Auburn - everything has been said - The worst because of the way they treat opposing fans. Never going back there.

Athens - Good stadium and enjoyed being between the hedges. Up until the game started, everything was ok. But when they started barking and all that, lets just say I will not be back. We smoked them that day (31-0 I think back in 1995) and my son and I barely got out alive.

Jackson, MS - when we played Ole Miss and State there until they moved to campus - it was not a bad stadium then (late 70s and early 80s). We did not get bothered until the 6-3 debacle in 1980. Had some State fans cuss us and want to fight on the way out of the stadium.

Oxford - way overrated - like a large HS stadium. The Grove is nothing to waste your time on. Upper class redneck at its finest. Have been there twice, the first time was all right. The second time I dodged whiskey bottles being thrown at us the whole game. I asked a MS State trooper there for help. He ignored us. Never again..

Starkvegas - been there many times. The cowbells are horrendous. Most of the time the fans shut up after we got a lead. One year, a grandmother looking woman cussed me all the way to our car after we lost. One year, I got hit in the head with a cowbell and it cut my scalp open. Never again after that.

Hattiesburg - Bama never played there but it was a nice place to watch a game. Did not have a bad experience there. It was adequate back then. (Late 1980’s)

Most of my game day experiences have been in Tuscaloosa and I know we have bad fans also but I have not experienced that side of our fan base except for one Iron Bowl game. That day, some of our drunk fans would not leave a single Mom and her 2 kids (Auburn alum) alone and let them enjoy the game. It was Fran’s last game before he bolted. Several Bama fans stood up for her and the fans finally left them alone. The rest of our home games, I have not witnessed some of the stuff I have witnessed on the road at other places.

Now that I am older, I appreciate the comforts of recliner seating and benefits more.

Was that the game where we did not score an offensive TD?

2009 National Championship game with Texas - Getting to watch Bama win a natty was amazing. I was focused like a laser during that game and it was so exciting to see Bama win the big one. I'll never forget hearing Coach Saban say "this is not the end, this only the beginning."

1994 UT game - Bama held on for a close win. After the game, everyone was talking about "Archie's boy". We all knew that we would have to put up with Peyton for another three seasons. That was my first trip to Rocky Top.

2005 Cotton Bowl with Texas Tech - This was an exciting game and a great way to end the 2005 season. Bama's defense came to play and shut down a powerful Tech offense. I also enjoyed seeing Dallas. My family and I visited Dealy Plaza and listened to conspiracy theorists. It seems like they are always there.

2007 Ole Miss - This was a fun game and I enjoyed hanging out at the Grove.
