New rankings?

Just curious...what time and day do these usually come out? I know they're waiting for FSU/UM tonight, but just wondered...

I've never really paid much attention.

Anybody wanna bet ND jumps into the rankings ahead/higher than us?
LOL, I said the same thing. I actually made the sarcastic comment that they'll probably be in the Top 10 this week. With the way the media guys were slobbering all over ND after their win (it was impressive, but I know nothing of Pitt), I do imagine they will be in both polls.

In the coaches poll, I could Bama moving past Boise State, Tex aTm and Auburn. Auburn may not fall far enough for us to move ahead but since we won and they lost, its only logical to move us ahead.

Bama should be 21st, moving up from 24th.

In the AP, were Bama is 26th, we should move past Pitt, AU, Boise, Tex aTm, up to about 22nd.

If we finish September undefeated, will be in the top 15, knocking on the door of the top 10 by virtue of the fact several teams above us should lose by then.

I would bet Notre Dame enters the AP poll around 16th. They'll probably enter the coaches' poll around 21st.

Sportswriters love Notre Dame and Michigan more than any other teams.

i say put 'em way up there - i don't see 'em staying that long and when they do lose, that just creates space for us to move up to :D

Based on what I have seen so far (only one week), ND deserves to be in the top 20 as much as anyone else. They waxed Pitt...

As for Bama, I would prefer that we keep a low profile/ranking until we get into our SEC schedule. I really think that a high ranking will get our fans too excited.

I still find it hard to find more than 7 wins on our schedule this year, even if we stay healthy. And I would hate to hear Bama fans rip Shula for another season of improvement because we were ranked too high early on and expectations were raised to meet those rankings...

This is yet another reason to NOT have polls until at least

week 4 or 5! How good is Pitt? How good is ND? How bad is AU? How good is Ga. Tech? Nobody can answer these questions yet and therefore the polls are just big huge guesses! The only ranking that is still deserved in my book is USC! They ended the year at #1 and haven't lost their best players, which to me means they should stay where they are until beaten. Other than that...we've already seen that the polls are crap!
