I just got back from the game. Coach Saban sat with the Sanders for most of the first half. At one point the jumbotron showed Saban, and for a split second a person next to him. Don't know if it was Sr. or Jr. Cecil's tweet probably refers to the fact that universities can't publicize who is being recruited and is not allowed to even identify them until a LOI is signed.

FWIW, I looked back up there after halftime and Trent Richardson was sitting where Saban had been. Burton Burns and his wife were there as well.

It's still murky as to whether there was a violation. Obviously no one from UA identified who it was on the jumbotron, but they still showed them when the camera panned to their location in the crowd.

Dee Hart was also sitting up there with them at one point.

So I guess the same thing should be a concern fot USCe when they did that at a USC game with Clowney sitting with Spurrier. The fact who cares becuase at most it is a secondary violation that will be self reported and nothing will happen. Plus I do not how many times I saw in college games when they pan the recruit area and you see the recruits on the Jumbotron.

I think the issue is that Sanders is still a Jr. and therefore different rules apply. Clowney was a Sr. I may be wrong though.

The violation would be putting them on the jumbotron. There are very tight rules about officially identifying prospects before they sign with the university.
The emphasis was on Coach Saban. There was an individual to Coach's right who was on screen for just a second and was not identified.

I believe that any exposure was not intentional and shouldn't be any big deal. Coach did not look happy however.

I don't think it was a violation, judging from what people at the game told me. I know you can't show a recruit, but I don't think the younger Sanders was shown (from what I was told). Either way, no biggie.

Here's a pic from last night...

Notice Trent and Dee Hart also in the pic.

The camera operator may have just been trying to capture CNS in the shot and didn't even realize who was with him. I suppose, in the future, they will be filled in who our coaches are bringing to the games beforehand.

Well, knowing how CNS is, I'm sure if he's not recruiting but rather just at the game to support the team and CAG then he probably would rather not get 'noticed' anyway. I'm sure he'd feel like he was taking some of the spotlight off the guys on the floor.

Logic would say that, if a recruit got shown in the course of a picture of Saban, he was unidentified, and the camera didn't dwell on him, it would be a minor violation, if any at all.

That said, this isn't new, and the NCAA isn't often logical. Plus, given our history with those guys, we have to be Caesar's wife....beyond reproach, not giving even the appearance of wrongdoing, intentional or otherwise. You would think UA would direct the in-house camera person to show Saban or any other member of the Athletic Department only in pre-planned situations.

Fun sidelight: Behind Saban and to his right (left as you're looking at the picture), is a guy who's seen over 800 straight Alabama Football games. Apparently, he likes basketball as well.
