He is 6foot 3inches at 297 pounds. A great pickup for the team. A BIG DEFENSIVE TACKLE THAT WE NEED. He called Coach Ball tonight to give him the good news. Alfred said his visit to Tuscaloosa cemented the deal for Alabama. He also said that he had offers from some other great schools but having a chance to play for Alabama was special. He is a 4 star prospect rated as the 26th DT in the nation. Last year Alfred had 67 tackles, 16 TFL and 11 sacks. RTR!!!!!!!

Re: Alfred McCullough commits ...

I excited about this one as well. He is a much needed in-state guy. Hopefully the good news will continue to roll this month, as Chapman, McNeil, and Murphy are set to announce. I heard that McNeil loved his visit to FSU, but wanted to wait and not get caught up in the moment. He will visit Auburn next weekend. As for the DTs, looks like we have a few slots left to fill. With LaMarcus Williams and Alfred in the fold, we can add Murphy and then Chapman (greyshirt). I think that could leave a suprise, such as John Brown, but the more likely would be Nick Gentry or Justin Sanders.

film wise, he's one of the best pass rushers of our DT targets I've seen so far. He played end pretty much last year. 290+ and moves well.

Wow, that's very good news

Sounds like a very good one. Now, Bama just needs 1-2 more really good ones at DT.

Please remember that some of us out-of-staters don't know these guys. Tell us more about him. Where is he from? How does he stack up among the other DT's in the state? Inquiring minds and rabid Tide fans want to know.

Max bench of 300 lbs and he weighs nearly as much? Sounds like a redshirt candidate for S&C work.
Yeah but with our S&C's emphasis on lean/athletic muscle and him already running a 4.9 as a 300 pounder.... he's gonna be a beast after that RS year :biggrin2:

He's from Athens, AL. I would say he's just below Murphy on the chart. Would be a good tandem with Murphy. Murphy being the line clogger and McCullough the pass rusher.

So McCullough is more like Sapp while Murphy is like Siragusa?

Nothing against the Goose, but I think Murphy is just a tad bit more athletic than that. He's a huge guy for sure, but he can flat out move as well. Have you seen that video of Murphy?

Murphy is athletic, but it seems hard to think he is more thletic than on of the greats at DT in the NFL.
