Recruiting: Late drama lifts Alabama to recruiting title

It took three extra days, but that just made the end result sweeter for Alabama.

Cyrus Kouandjio, who committed to Auburn on National Signing Day, reversed course Saturday and signed a letter of intent to join his brother Arie in Tuscaloosa. In doing so, Kouandjio helped Alabama cement the top class in the SEC for the 2010-2011 recruiting cycle and pushed the Crimson Tide ever so slightly ahead of Florida State to claim the TideFans/NARCAS 2010-2011 Recruiting National Title.

Re: Recruiting: Signing Day over, but dust hasn’t settled yet

Thanks, Jess
Seems like we may be better than I originally thought. Even without all the "ifs."

Great analysis. Looks like we only have maybe 2 more who are academically questionable: Danny Woodson, and LaMichael Fanning. Assuming we lose these 2 to juco, that means less grayshirts.

I think we filled a little of every position.

No kidding, the dust has not settled yet. Hopefull Cyrus Kouandjio will talk to his family and take their feelings and opinions about Alabama into account and make the right decision. Even Valentines Day will be impacted this year. ;)

Great read. Great class and I really hope our injured signees can make it once they get on campus and get physical therapy with our staff, which I'd imagine is better than what they are getting now. We got a good amount of speed and I am eager to see what they can do.

Outstanding analysis of this recruiting class, Jess. I guess I am a little confused why a player like Cyrus Kouandjio, who I suppose could pick any school in the country, would consider AU. I understand he may not want to play on the same team as his brother, to chart his own course, but why AU? With or without him or Clowney, who I think will stay at home, this is a very good class that addressed a lot needs. Congrats to Coach Saban and his staff.

Great to see Alabama get the bump with Cyrus. I'm so glad he decided to join his brother.

Question - I thought Trey DePriest was already enrolled as well. In the above analysis he is listed as "already qualified to play" instead of already enrolled.
