Over the next few weeks, we’ll be breaking down Alabama’s recruiting targets and needs. This first installment will cover quarterbacks, running backs and receivers. The second installment will look at tight ends/fullbacks/H-backs and offensive linemen.

A breakdown of the defensive line will follow, followed by a linebacker breakdown and one on defensive backs.

Verdict: Alabama holds onto Bowman, who is being pursued by Georgia, and adds Norwood, Teague and Randle. If Randle goes to Miami or LSU, look for Alabama to push for Kelly. Either scenario would give Alabama everything it needs in this class to round out its receiver unit.

Our WR recruitment is as clear as mud. Bowman says Georgia is his first love, Teague's high school teammate says he's a UF commit and Randle isn't showing his hand. Top that off with your comment about us not being after Kelly as hard as I thought and I am thoroughly confused. Man I love recruiting.

Thanks for the update Jess.

While I would certainly prefer RR to any of the other WR prospects, I am extremely surprised to hear we have "cooled" on Kelly. He didn't necessarily have the best senior year, but he had some small nagging injuries that hampered him all year. I think we all assumed he would follow Dre to Bama. This is an interesting new development.

Norwood, Bowman, Randle...anything we get after that is gravy

I've tried to be very discreet about KK for fear of public floggings (G). Glad you said it plainly, Jess. haha
Wow. Very surprised to hear that. I guess CNS and staff must feel very good about their chances with a few other of these receivers. I trust their ability to evaluate the talent.

Where do you guys think KK ends up?

I am still predicting Bama. It could go either way right now. As I said before if Kelly waits too long he could be left out of this class if it fills up before he makes his decision.

Wow! The lack of confidence concerning Richardson is, well, scary. I had assumed since we had only really pursued one running back that he was solidly in our camp, though I understand he has been visiting. Hasn't he taken several unofficials to Tuscaloosa?

I am also surprised about Kelly. Didn't he actually play quarterback this year? The names aren't that important to me as a fan, but of course, I would prefer to keep Alabama kids at Alabama.

Thanks for these reports. The best free stuff on the net.

If not Alabama, I look for him to end up at North Carolina.

I wouldn't worry too much about TR. I think he ends up in Crimson and is just enjoing the recruiting process. He has never done or said anything to make me think that he would rather be anywhere else. He isn't a spread back and the word is UF isn't too confident anymore that they can switch him. And I think that CNS will flat out out recruit Miles and LSU.

As for KK I don't know. Obviously the staff knows more than we do. I'd say most likely he comes to Bama. If he choses UNC I think its safe to say we wouldn't take him.

That's too bad to hear about Kelly. It seemed to me like taking him was a no brainer. I wonder what the deal is? Are we afraid of his injuries, does he have a bad attitude, or is his talent just overrated? I sure hope he ends up at Bama. If nothing else, it couldn't hurt our chances with Kirkpatrick.

That situation with Kelly tells me one of two things, either the staff isn't too enamored with him, or they feel awfully good about landing the prospects they have ahead of him.

Are we still "backing off" of Kelly even though CNS visited him and his family in Gadsden this week??
Eh, I didn't think "backing off" is the right term, we're obviously still recruiting him very, very hard. And honestly, he'll probably still end up signing with us. I think the proper phrase would be "not a guaranteed lock."

More likely than not, Kelly will still end up signing with us.
