Recruiting: The final 10

As of 12:01 a.m. Dec. 9, Alabama has collected 16 verbal commitments from high school prospects for the upcoming 2006 season. A 17th player, DE Jerami Holifield, is no longer being counted due to reports that he has withdrawn from junior college, thus making him ineligible to report to Tuscaloosa next fall.

Even though Alabama will be limited to a maximum of 25 initial counters, it’s a good bet that Alabama will oversign as it has done in recent years. It’s reasonable to assume Alabama will take commitments from at least 10 more college prospects this winter.

I respectfully disagree that TT's prolonging of an announcement would be in Bama's favor. From everything I have heard Tim is a straight shooter and has been nothing but open and direct with CMS. I think prolonging the announcement would mean fla is begging him to reconsider. I don't expect him to prolong the announcement and I expect him to choose Bama on the 13th. We will see soon.

That was the point I was trying to make, too. Apparently, it didn't come across as well as I'd hoped.

I think we are done at DB.
QB- Tebow or bust
RB- Terry Grant, Marcus Sims
WR- Hawthorne, Alexander, Courtney Smith
DL- Ricks, Goggans, Talbert, Lockett, Whitehead
LB- Spikes, Jones, Odom, Stevens
OL- Smith or bust

I can see us getting 7 or so out of those. The only gauranteed spots are Tebow and Smith and 1 LB. The rest may be first come first serve.

Heard on Tv last night that #8 (Smelley) has signed with Spurrior and the Gamecocks.

#3 (Hawthorne) has the nickname of "Sticky fingers". If he acquired that nickname due to his catching ability, then wonderful. I just hope that he is not a shoplifter.

Anyway, we need this guy really bad.

I started a thread below with a few notes....Jones likes a lot about LSU and he may want to start something of his own. His Bama offer was thought to be full, but he may be a greyshirt the way our class is getting full. Just speculation.
