Opt outs?

I was going to write a snarky post, but did a mental reset first.

We're all Bama fans, even if we disagree on how to get back to the top of the mountain at times. This era (error?) of CFB is crazy and unprecedented. Players transferring at will, getting paid millions, opting out of games...

Let's not fall into that same trap as fans. I know our passions burn very bright at times, but I would humbly suggest that we not opt out of supporting our team, no matter the team's disposition (or composition for that matter).

Bama has given us many memorable Saturdays, often turning certain defeat into improbable victory.

Let's not abandon them when they're "down."
Well said. I agree.

Very well said, sir. As a long time Tidefans poster, Alabama alumnus, and even longer term Alabama fan, I find myself disappointed, conflicted, and generally ****ed off at what has happened to CFB. I literally grew up with Coach Bryant’s teams. In my calmer, more “ sane “ moments, I come to a realization that I can never totally abandon my school or the team that, I hope, still represents it. Even though it’ll never be the same, I guess I’ll always bleed crimson and white. I just wish and hope that the players and coaches, now and in the future, can find some way to do the same.

What I had in the back of my mind when I said confused and concerned is because Law prefers playing with Ty Simpson.

Law might be leaving for others reasons but maybe he thinks for whatever reason him and Ty won’t play together so he’s not taking chances getting out.
Do you have a link or something where Law says he prefers Ty Simpson? I must have missed that.

That is the kind of thing you do not do in public. If Coach DeBoer is unwilling to let Milroe play, then some story will be presented to the media to save face (and not sabotage Milroe's draft status). "Milroe is going to work with a QB whisperer," or "Milroe has opted not to play so he can concentrate on his draft status," or something like that. If Milroe is frozen out and not happy about that, he might spill the beans, however, but I doubt the school will.
But yes, I agree, if he wants to play, I'd be willing to give him his swan song. It's just an exhibition game, really. I would keep him on a short leash. If Bama is up by two scores in the 2nd quarter and has provided some spectacular plays, I'd pull him and play Ty the rest of the game.
He’s not going to be frozen out. If he were to be, the question would become, “Why didn’t you make that decision when the season could have been salvaged?”

That would happen as well, but I believe Coach DeBoer is trying to build a long-term relationship with the players and benching Milroe against Milroe's public wishes would undermine that.
Plus, I'd wager Milroe looks at the bowl game as his last chance to state his case to NFL scouts. It is just an exhibition game, but I'd like Bama to beat Michigan. I'm fairly sure Milroe wants another swing at them.

I think both teams are just going to show up and go thru the morions, like the majority of the bowls not in the CFP.
I think MI will be pretty motivated by the potential of finishing the season with wins over OSU and Bama to push their record to 8-5.

I wouldn't be surprised if we show up looking like we slept on a park bench the night before.

It's pretty much impossible to predict what this 2024 team will do.

I haven't followed Michigan's opt out or portal doings but the regular season Michigan team has a Defense that is better than OU's and it's specifically Very Good against the Run.

We do not run the ball well by conventional means.

Milroe runs the ball well sometimes and other times he doesn't and it's kind of dependent on how opposing defenses play him and also what Milroe's mental psyche is on any given day.

If they pressure him and he gets rattled it's a wrap.

He folds up like soggy tissue paper.

I expect Michigan to carbon copy everything Vandy, Tenn, and OU did against us.

I expect our staff to create a gameplan carved in stone and if it works and Michigan doesn't adjust then we might win but if it doesn't work then we will not make a single adjustment and It's a wrap.

I have no faith in this staff and less faith than that in Milroe.

I just want to get to the Spring and hope 2025 will have a new slate where players actually compete and earn their position fair and square.

This pretty much sums up the entire season...and it's a very concerning issue because this is one of the most important things the coaches have to be able to do...and we have shown no ability to do it in any game this season.
