Rich Rodriguez fired from Michigan (updated 1/5/11)

re: UM AD says no decision yet on Rich Rodriguez's future

Heh.

RE: Who Michigan may go after... Come on, y'all. You know they are drawn to The Hat like a moth is drawn to a flame.

Now I see why someone has the dreaded AU av.

From what I've heard they'll go after Les before they will even call Harbaugh. He did peeve the maize nation. Also, with USC in the wildrness why not stay at Stanford? He has proven he can win their and the climate is a helluva lot better.

Richrod=TOOL

re: UM AD says no decision yet on Rich Rodriguez's future

I would imagine Harbaugh would have the inside track since he is a Michigan Man regardless of his not so nice comments a few years back. I also read somewhere last week, can't recall where it was, that Chris Petersen will take the USC job once the sanctions are over and Kiffin and Orgeron are ousted.

wow....haven't heard that

re: UM AD says no decision yet on Rich Rodriguez's future

i'm curious to see if they would go after Malzahn since they have recruited the type of athletes to play in his offense and plus he has a QB in robinson who has the experience in running that type of offense? just a thought....

Up until the time the $Cam incident came to light, I would have agreed with you. Now though, I think even Malzahn has been tainted by it and has been crossed off many previous school's lists.
Oh well. You sleep with dogs, you wake up with fleas.

re: UM AD says no decision yet on Rich Rodriguez's future

Now that the LSU fans have decided they really do like Miles now, it would be something to see him jump to Michigan while he's riding high. :)

re: UM AD says no decision yet on Rich Rodriguez's future

Just my opinion, but I seriously doubt Michigan goes after another spread coach. I might be wrong, but most folks at Michigan want to get back to playing power football, I figure...and that says Jim Harbaugh or Les The Cat in the Hat.

If I were doing the Hiring for them, it would be Harbaugh.

re: UM AD says no decision yet on Rich Rodriguez's future

re: Harbaugh, he's got an NFL job waiting on him (specifically in San Francisco) if he wants it. With his success, coupled with the success his brother has seen in Baltimore, it works in his favor.

Agreed. I see Harbaugh either in the pros or staying at Stanford. I don't see Harbaugh at Michigan despite being a "Michigan Man."

re: UM AD says no decision yet on Rich Rodriguez's future

Agreed...Harbaugh will be a good get for a major school if he's stays a college coach. Some think he has nfl aspirations, but Michigan would be a good fit for him I think.
That's the only drawback for Harbaugh..The way I look at it..I think he needs to add another HC'ing job on his resume..By going to Michigan & turning Wolverine Football around..The NFL will throw some mega $$$$ his way..

Desperation can often rebuild bridges.
Yup..And Michigan is in desperation mode..Plus $$$ & winning always has a way of soothing bad feelings..

And let's not forget that Jack Del Rio has no interest in the Michigan or Alabama HC job.

This should be no surprise to anyone. Losing is bad enough but then the NCAA trouble was the icing on the cake. I have felt sure this was his last season.

I will try to look and see if I can find that article and post. Love him or hate him Les Miles is a good football coach and obviously a good recruiter. The only reason, besides money, I can see Miles would have any interest in the Michigan job is that it would be dramatically easier to win the Big 11 every year than win the SEC.

I cannot imagine that Pat Haden will put up with Kiffin's attitude and antics for more than another couple of years and when the losses mount up Haden will be forced to go in another direction. The only thing I know about Petersen is that he is obviously a good coach and a left coast guy who I believe has a great deal of integrity. Whether or not he would turn out like Dan Hawkins is an unknown.

re: UM AD says no decision yet on Rich Rodriguez's future

If they are smart they'll go get Harbaugh, but IMO he has NFL written all over him so they may be timid of going after someone that may or may not commit to staying there. I still think RR is a good football coach and probably deserves atleast one more season. He had to totally rebuild that roster and go from opposites ends of the spectrum offensive scheme wise. It was not going to happen overnight. Even still, if he gets another year or even two it may just be delaying the inevitable. Bottomline, RR and Michigan are just not a good fit.

re: UM AD says no decision yet on Rich Rodriguez's future

Agree, or Les who's stock is up with the win over Bama and his ability to find ways to win. He knows that he'll have more time at Michigan if he gets back to traditional football like Michigan and ourselves like........not winning with your quarterback.

Les has 6 pretty much guaranteed years at Michigan
Les has around 3 at LSU.

His ties are stronger to Michigan I and he will be ranked as one of the Big 10's elite coaches.

I think it's Les as a no brainer.

LOL

re: UM AD says no decision yet on Rich Rodriguez's future

No matter who they get, it will be a step up. And the new coach will have a full season to start getting ready to play Bama in Dallas to open 2012!!
