Right now, Tennessee has a better football program than Bama does

This is a 12 team playoff.

Tennessee is in it.

Bama is not.

It's one thing to say Tennessee is on the way up while Bama might be on the way down.

Tennessee is in with ease.

Bama is not and out with clarity.

This is not like saying well Bama should be in, because well ... who does Indiana or SMU or whoever ... play?

We're talking about Tennessee.

Tennessee's football program has exceeded Bama's football program. Not by a little bit either. By a substantial amount. Enough to be very well entrenched in the playoffs while Bama was begging to be included.

Those of you supporting Bama elements with money (I know I am -- though I am seriously re-thinking it), are you supporting the right groups? Maybe we're not. We're probably not. I would encourage everyone who is doing this to take a hard look into who you're supporting.

We can all laugh it up but why is Bama seriously behind Tennessee right now?

Give me some evidence that Bama is in a better position than Tennessee. I'll take it but nobody has brought it.
I feel like this is trolling attempt at everyone in this group.

Haven’t, and won’t, read every post. But no. Just no. Here are “some” contributing factors to this years unsuccessful campaign.
1st year coach with a fragmented roster.
1st year coach with a fragmented staff.
1st year coach in the SEC.
1st year coach with a political locker room.
1st year coach in the highest profile school.
1st year coach following the GOAT.
Did I mention this is CKD’s first year?
So NO. That Puke Orange school IS NOT a better program. They’ve won 2 of the last 3 after losing 17 straight. There’ve been other teams who’ve accomplished 2 of 3 but it’s not a qualifier for a “better program” by any stretch. A “Program” is not erratic wins and no matter how many fields get stormed, goalposts are sacrificed and rotten toothless smiles get captured on national TV in their 15 minutes of fame spotlight they’re still that same hideous checkered overall wearing hillbilly brood that can’t remember whether to introduce Betty Sue as their wife, girlfriend, cousin or aunt.

I haven't read all the posts, but feel there is some merit in the fact that UT has at least pulled even with Alabama, better not sure yet. From 2008-2019 approximately, the SEC top teams almost every year were Alabama and LSU. I would say at this point those two teams have been supplanted by Georgia and Texas. The next tier, IMO would include Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, Tier 3 would include, again IMO, South Carolina, Missouri, and LSU. The only other potential competitive tier would be Auburn, Florida, and Oklahoma. I am not sure when we will return to the top of the conference, that is yet to be determined but it ain't going to be an easy climb.
I mean, Bama has won three of the last five SEC Championships, UGA has won two. Tennessee hasn't won one in almost three decades.

Maybe y'all can tap the brakes after one year where the entire coaching staff and about 1/3 of the team is new?

1 year does not a trend/slide make.
IMHO, with a new staff and holdover players, I agree. I wouldn’t think anything is “ significant “ in either direction until we get through the next 2 to 3 seasons under the current regimes at both schools. Nobody can know what the landscape will look like by then.

Let’s take the drama down a notch. It is a trolling attempt. Many have fallen for it.

but…The topic is valid. And worth keeping this open, but let’s stop with the face palm emojis and stuff.

UTK has money. Facilities. Boosters. And a manageable schedule. They had a better season.

Thats it. Small sample size.

When they have "significantly" more than EIGHTEEN national championships and they beat us for "significantly" more than FIFTEEN in a row, I'll buy into this.

No one's had a better landing into a new program than DeBoer.
That's an assumption I hear a lot and I don't agree with it. Regardless of how great DeBoer may prove to be, the team has had to deal with:

New Head Coach
New Offensive Coordinator
New Defensive Coordinator
New Schemes and plays
New culture

This was a rebuilding year, folks, regardless of the assumption that DeBoer took on a ready-made NC team, because that assumption is false.

People on this board have besmirched Coach Heupel before but the reality is, he is a dang good football coach. The players love his demeanor and play their butts off for him and his staff.

What we are seeing now is UT has a well established program and has their culture and offensive and defensive systems well in place. They have carryover because of the coaching staff being in place over time.

This year was a transition year for Alabama. Minus the two ridiculous losses, it was a damn good year. We shouldn't ignore those losses, yet use them as a reminder that no one is going to give us a gosh dang thing and we have to get back to earning everything we get. Talent is spread out across the board and you don't beat people by showing up and having social media and tv personalities hyping you up. You win games by out working people, being a great teammate, and listening to your coaches.

Alabama's program is still the gold standard. One 9-3 (possibly 10-3 season), doesn't knock us off the mountain. If we see a decline over the next 2-3 years, then yes we are back to playing catch up.

This entire post has relevancy but it is an overreaction. Should we not be happy with the current situation? I think we should. Should we turn on each other and rip each other to shreds? Absolutely not.

Deboer was hired to do two things: score points and win championships. Lets let the man do his job and see where we are come next year!

Exactly. If the earth was flat, cats would have already knocked everything off the edge.
Have you heard about the Final Experiment? Some youtube guy paid for some flat earthers and normal folks to go to Antarctica to prove a 24hr sun. They are there right now. the flatearthers are currently having to move the goalposts to retract their 2 biggest arguments. They claim no one is allowed to go to Antarctica and a 24 hr sun is impossible. Now their whole world is shattered.

oh and tennessee has not surpassed us at all. They will lose in Tuscaloosa next year and miss the playoffs next year as well.

I was with you until this last part. I'll never understand anyone in the South making fun of another fan base in such a way. We literally have the entire country thinking they are classier, smarter, and more human than us, yet we do the same 4-5 jokes on each other (insert you meeting your wife at the family reunion). I've either lived or visited almost every state in this country. There are different versions of "rednecks" and "losers" scattered amongst every state. Anyone who thinks differently is just simply deflecting to make themselves feel better. UT fans are annoying, as is every fan base if they really care. I know your post was probably tongue and cheek, excuse the pun, but I just think we can come up with a better way to belittle our SEC brethren without falling for the same tactics that the rest of the country likes to spew upon all of us.
