Just a thought. He could be Alabama bound and just wants to see how things unfold at the Capstone. Why else would he have mentioned Alabama. He's going to be one of the top recruits in the country. Seems to be mostly interested in midwest teams. Alabama is the only SEC school that he's really interested in.
He may not be kidding. FWIW, ESPN's Scouts Inc has him as the top rated QB going into 2008. Here's a small write up on him.I'm sure it did come straight from his mouth, that's standard practice. My senior year of high school, a few years ago, I ran a 4.78, but if anyone were to ask me what I ran, it was definitely a 4.6!
Gabbert on top of recruiting processApr. 13 Gabbert on top of recruiting process
Blaine Gabbert, who currently stands as ESPN's No.1 quarterback of 2008, already has 12 offers. However, he's not fazed by all the attention. His high school coach, Mike Roth, told the Omaha World-Herald, "He's got a lot to choose from, but I think he understands the situation. He could probably tell you the (quarterback) situation right now at every one of those schools."
The signal-caller from Ballwin, Mo. passed for 1,523 yards and 20 touchdowns and added 458 yards and eight more scores on the ground as a junior.
Gabbert is one of the best quarterbacks we have seen in the last three classes combined.
