I read in the AJC this morning that RJ might go late in the first round, is that right? If he does I will be very impressed. Walk on to nfl first rounder. WOW. The nfl always needs safeties and not many are available this year, a great year to go pro. congrats RJ RTR

That would be great, but I still think that's a stretch. I do see him going on day one even if he doesn't make the first round.

I don't know about all of that, but a good showing in the Senior bowl and more importantly the combine will help his stock. Everybody knows he knows how to play the position and is a smart player, but he'll need to prove his speed and athleticism at the combine.

going from a walk on to a first round draftee is like buying microsoft at less than a dollar. amazing.

I have read several places about Rashad really improved his stock this week with great play and leadership. Mid-second round is probably his ceiling, given that he is a great athlete but not a freak. I personally think some lucky team grabs him in the mid-late 2nd round and gets a steal. RTR!

The projections I've seen show him going around 40, so probably early second round.

An amazing story, certainly. RJ will long be one of my favs!

The only thing that could possibly keep him from going very early is his height (somewhere between 5'11'' and 6'0''). He's also a little light for an NFL safety at 195.

There's really nothing else you can't like about this kid if you're an NFL scout. He's tough, smart, fast, has great instincts, and is a great leader.

He is one of my favorites also....I think whoever gets him will be pleased. I hope he goes in the first round but like said before, that will be a stretch, either way with his attitude, he will go on to be very successful at whatever he does....RTR RJ

I hate acronyms.

<RANT>
Yeah me to. Now when people type, CSS I have to take a second to figure out if they are talking about Steve Spurrier or Sal Sunseri. When did we start abbreviating assistant coaches anyway? I mean it only takes 3 whole seconds to type their whole name. It really peeves me when "ppl thnk they r txt msging when they r on a msg board".

Sounds like a second rounder because of the juniors flooding this years class. There is an ex-coach in Miami that has RJ high on his list and if there's anyway possible he will be a Dolphin if someone else does not snatch him up first.

Speak for yourself.:) It takes me 3 seconds to type coach.:biggrin:

If ya'll want to get the hang of acronyms, spend some time in the military. You'll get comfortable with them in no time.

And he makes the tackle. If he was having to drag folks down I would have him rated lower as far as the draft, but their are too many teams with secondary issues that will let a RJ type go.

And you are dead on about the second part.

I would bet he won't go in the first round since his greatest strengths are mental. Not too different than Demeco, who was projected by some as high as 12 or 13, only to fall to the second round (although barely).
Other guys will probably outshine him at the combines, so teams will take chances on those kids because of their upside, while Rashad will get picked up in the second round.
