Roy Upchurch

Roy is a sweetheart, we met him a couple of years ago for fan day. When Coach is asked about Roy, coach always says that Roy plays a lot on special teams when he is healthy, he busts a wedge on punt coverage like nobody's business. Also, he likes to deliver the hit not take the hit.

It is really a shame about the injuries that he has had over his time at Bama. Hopefully that is over for him and gets a chance in the NFL.

And I expect we will see more of him in the next 3 games now that he is healthy.

I tend to blame the injuries. It seems every time he gets up a head of steam and we start relying on him, he gets hurt again. Of course, that's a scenario which occurs with a lot of promising players. Looking at the way he ran against VT, any HC in his right mind would be thinking "I've got to find a way to get that guy on the field." Then, as you say, with TR's progress, it turns into "Well, we're doing pretty well as we are..."

I agree with this. Roy's attitude seems incredibly good to me. He's just the third best back we have and you can only play one at a time. Yes, you'd like to play Roy, but as a coach, are you going to sit Mark and Trent to do so? I don't think so.

Those foot surgeries always sounded serious to me requiring real rehabilitation.

The neck injury/surgery looked like a real painful deal. He worked through all of that in addition to school and football.

If he's healthy, he's a weapon.

He looked healthy today.

"Solidily run organization" after Belichick stopped cheating. But I do hope to see Roy in an NFL uniform somewhere next year.
 
Injuries have hampered Roy his whole career. Looking at the way he ran against VT compared to yesterday, the injuries have slowed him down and lessened his aggressiveness when he runs the ball. He should be commended for sticking with it and doing whatever is asked of him for the team. My hats off to you Roy Upchurch.:BigA:

I agree, he seemed timid yesterday compared to that enforcer we saw against VT. When he charges, he's the best 3rd string weapon in the country; hopefully bad luck hasn't robbed that from him.
 
I hope Roy can catch on in the NFL kind of like Danny Ware from UGA has. Ware was always behind Thomas Brown and Kregg Lumpkin at UGA, but was very talented. He is now on the Giants as their 3rd down back and looks pretty good. Now that I think about it, it would be even better if he ended up like Brandon Jacobs who sat behind Cadillac and Ronnie Brown, but is not a very good NFL RB.
