Ryan Mullins reinstated

Just our luck. Mullins, Vanderbilt's ace lefty, who had been suspended by Coach Tim Corbin following an arrest for DUI earlier this month, has been reinstated. He missed starts in Vandy's series' against Baylor and Mississippi State (VU went 1-5), but will be ready to go this weekend. It has been reported that he will work out of the bullpen, which would be a lot better than having to face him as a starter. He pitched seven shutout innings to get the win against us on Sunday last year.

The Dores are really missing Cesar Nicolas's bat in the cleanup spot this year. All-American second baseman Warner Jones appears to be suffering the most from Nicolas's departure, as he is only hitting .314 with an extremely low .322 OBP. Almost 90 plate appearances for Jones this season and not a single walk. Vandy's best hitter thus far has been first baseman Mike Baxter (.362/.482/.652; 5 2B, 3 3B, 3 HR, 16 RBI; 8-8 SB).

Speedster Antoan Richardson may be one of the premier base stealers in the league, but that really doesn't make much of a difference when you're hitting .186.

JoJo, Just what you and I were talking about at last nights game. Watch Tim Corbin reinstate Ryan Mullins for this weekend series. Does he keep Mullins suspended if they were facing, lets say Kentucky? I know there are different opinions among schools regarding DUI charges as to how long a player is suspended. Kind of ironic he was reinstated for this weekends series.

he ain't all that great. We ripped him in 6 of the 7 innings last year, at least put a runner on, but couldn't muster a rally. All the meantime, Tank was pitching great.

This year, our guys are taking advantage of the opportunities given to them and driving in the runs. Bring on Mullins for all I'm concerned.
