Looks like thing are getting even more outrageous. His mom is saying she had a confrontation with his girlfriend as well as accusing CNS of setting his girlfriend up with a job. Signing day can't come soon enough... http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/01/alabama_commit_landon_collins_1.html
Hmmm. Seriously, does this woman not know who she is dealing with? Does anyone in their right mind think that Nick Saban would do something THAT stupid? Didn't think so. The U of A has the best compliance department in the country. These allegations are ridiculous. I will refrain from adding commentary about LC's mom. :mad2:

This whole deal is ugly. I'm almost 100% certain Coach Saban would not put the program in harms way by doing something so stupid (and blatant).
Can't wait for the facts to come out, but I wonder - is there any recourse for the mom if she found to be bold-face lying? And another question --- who on earth is putting her up to these antics?

Let me just use this space to reiterate the general ban we have on discussion relating to the Mother. Nothing good can come of it, so let's just nix it entirely. I'll leave all of the above comments in place, but future ones will just deleted outright. Again, nothing good to help our case can come from any of it.

As for the substance of the above "report," there is nothing whatsoever to corroborate any of it, so let's not even spend time hashing all of it out and giving it further publication by word of mouth.

Bottom line, we're 48 hours from the start of National Signing Day and there is absolutely nothing out there that indicates Collins is going anywhere other than Tuscaloosa. To the contrary, Collins has actually been recruiting other Louisiana prospects to Alabama, so let's not get cold feet this close to Signing Day and start manufacturing unfounded concern here.

Sensationalistic nonsense.

Headline: Saban accused of violation.

First paragraph: According to NCAA bylaws, however, this would not constitute a violation.

Modern journalism: If there's not a story, make one up.

What cracks me up is that this is a story about another story and it refutes the headline in the story. I doubt the GF has a job in Saban's office anyway. I read a whie back it had to do with work-study with the training staff. That stuff pays $7 an hour but is a better gig than working in the library for the same.

gulfcoasttider mentions on his blog that the rule that some are using applies only to men's basketball, and when the elispes are removed and the entire rule is looked at it clearly states it applies only to men's basketball.

On top of that, all UA students are eligible for employement by the school, even at the athletic department so the simple hiring of the gf would not constitute any violation, except in the case where you really really to make a story out of nothing.

Let's also add a closing statement on the Saban-gave-the-girlfriend-a-job allegations: Even if that did happen -- and we do not know that it did, mind you, as we have nothing to confirm that -- it is nevertheless not an NCAA violation. Period. End of discussion. No use in even being the slightest bit concerned with it.

And for the LSU fans who may be upset with it, I'd remind them that they are far from being above it. In fact, they did the exact same thing three years ago with Russell Shepard. Again, it's just not a violation, and it's perfectly within the rules.

i believe Daren Myles' dad was given a job at UT right around the time he signed with the vols as well. its not an uncommon practice in recruiting.

I can't do it from my phone, so "Thanks" and "Like"!

Not getting cold feet at all, but this is just crazy. You have to feel bad for him. He seemed VERY happy about his commitment only for someone to take his spotlight. I hope that this just doesn't deter him. I don't think it will.
