Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

Any kid who has grown up in Louisiana, especially south Louisiana KNOWS that they are raised to bleed purple and gold and are EXPECTED to answer the "call of duty" if LSU comes uh-callin' for their signature. And there is hell to pay if that doesn't happen. Ask former Tide player, Louisiana native, Luther Davis. They make their everyday lives miserable every step of the way. From going to school to getting nasty text's, phone calls, facebook threats etc. It's quite serious.
This is true...already started

Re: Something interesting I noticed about Collins's announcement

No, this isn't about his mom :) I noticed his announcement came with 7:30 left in the 4th quarter. Then I realized the BCSCG starts at.....that's right, 7:30. I think it's a sign. Bama beat LSU for Landon Collins's commitment, and we'll beat them on Monday night too.

Re: Something interesting I noticed about Collins's announcement

After watching the announcement last evening, it is probably a good thing the server was overloaded and I couldn't get in to express my feelings about a certain "reaction".

My respect for Landon went up even higher as this shows he is his own person and will follow his own dreams and make his own decisions. A clear sign of maturity.

Question: Is the GF on an academic schlorship?

You don't have to live in Alabama...just venture over to Tigerdroppings and you can see it clear. Here is what I learned...

1. Saban is only a great recruiter because he promises playing time or a chance at the NFL while Les Miles goes after parent's families.

2. Alabama players(such as Kirkpatrick, Richardson, Maze) are trash talkers(the irony is strong with this one...cough Honey Badger cough)...and even Ingram was a "self entitled bad word".

3. Saban can have his 5 stars as they don't translate to the field...(I guess they forgot which team has won the most recent National Championship between the 2 schools).

4. Landon Collins is only going to Alabama because of his girl..and his mom's actions were apparently perfectly ok. Collins is whipped and will regret it(although...their own Russell Shepard...did the exact thing).

Might be one of the biggest pickups of in the Saban Era. Where do you rank him against all the recruits of Saban's at UA out of high school, not with the performance of their college careers i.e. Mark Ingram.

Simple Question. Doesn't a parent have to sign the Scholly papers?
I read in an interview that he's been all bama for 2 years, and the only reason he hadn't committed for a while was because his parents wanted him to announce on national TV. I think his mom was saving face in her home state, and getting her 15 minutes. No way she actually prevents him from going to school at UA.

I assumed that had to deal with his age. If he is 18, he can sign a legal document, if not, he has to have a guardian sign I think..

Not to my knowledge unless something has changed since 2003. I played college ball (not at bama, I wish I could have) and I was the only one who signed my letter of intent and scholarship papers. I don't know if it changes if you are 17, I was already 18. Don't know how old LC is.

I feel that this is the reason he waited until just a month before NSD to "come out." If I were a LA kid determined to go out of state, I'd wait until the last minute also...
Similar to Jon Hand's signing with Bama. Big Jon was an Aubie commitment during the entire recruiting process. On NSD he signs with Bama. When asked why he changed his mind, he says, "Oh, I didn't change my mind. I was Bama all the way. All of my teachers were Auburn fans, so I got better grades by being committed to them."

If you are 17, you have to have it signed by a parent. Most sign it anyway.

In this situation, dad will be more than happy to sign it.

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

Remember though Cyrus had never commited to us or anyone until NSD. Many believe assumed he was a UA lock because of his brother and even CK told everyone his brother would not be a factor. CK first commitment last year was to AU and than the family talk to him and he commited to UA.
CK was being blackmailed by AU.

Rumor has it that Saban recommended that any parent accompany his son when they visit AU because of the CK incident.

They're idiots if they think that'll turn him. I've been reading some of the LSU boards. About 95% of them bash him. The remaining 5% are trying to shut the haters up. Of course that was last night, when they were probably in their cups. If he's reading their tweets, he's reading their boards...

after seeing mom's reaction, i'll believe he's coming to alabama when i see him suited up at practice. his mother was extrememly disappointed and from her demeanor and statements i doubt she'll cease working him to change his mind. right now i'd consider him a "soft" after seeing momma.

Exactly. Bashing the hell out of the kid isn't going to help swing him back in their direction. Will only help strength his resolve on going to 'Bama in all likelihood.

i dont think he lives with his mom so i am not sure that will be an issue. If i read correctly he lives with his dad and step-mom, however his brother does live with his mom so i wouldnt look for him to sign with bama lol
