Saban inducted into Independence Bowl Hall of Honor
Nick Saban was inducted into the Independence Bowl Hall of Honor on Thursday night at a ceremony at the East Ridge Country Club in Shreveport.

The honor comes six months after Saban’s University of Alabama football team defeated the Colorado Buffaloes 30-24 in the 2007 PetroSun Independence Bowl. Saban shared the honor this year with former Miami (Ohio) University and Indiana head football coach Terry Hoeppner, who was inducted posthumously, and former LSU quarterback Herb Tyler. Jane Hoeppner was on hand to accept the honor one year after her husband lost his battle with brain cancer.
Returning to Louisiana, Nick Saban feels at peace with LSU fans now
There was much speculation as to how the passionate college football fans in Louisiana would handle Saban's return to the state after he bolted LSU for the NFL on Christmas Day in 2004, only to return to the Southeastern Conference as the head coach of Western Division rival Alabama in '07.

According to Saban, Christmas time in Shreveport was a pleasant surprise.

His "sense of peace now with the LSU fans" will drastically change when we go to Baton Rouge this season.'

Oh by the way. Saban must have made some sort of "donation" to KISS COUNTRY 93.7 radio station here in Shreveport/Bossier City. For about a month now they run (about 20 times a day) an advertisement for The University of Alabama on their station. I've heard a lot of tigger fans complaining and asking "Who's paying for that to run?". I just tell them SLINKY BABY!!!! SUH-LANK- AY!!!!! YEAH BABY!!! ROLL TIDE!!!! They get all mad for some reason.

you know, I never really understood their anger with Saban, Its not like he came back to coach ole miss or R-kansas, he came back to coach Alabama, one of the all time greatest programs on CFB history. in terms of prestige, its a definite step up from any program in the SEC, even though its down as a program the last 10 years! not trying to dredge up any grudges from lsu posters, just putting things in my perspective a year removed from his accepting the job
