Scheduling in the future hopefully may not be the same.

Three conventional wisdom "truths" have been laid to rest. 1. Schedules must be made years in advance. Many replacement games were decided on Wednesday’s and even made it on T.V. on Saturday. 2. Can’t make the playoff with a 9 game conference schedule. Not only made it but went undefeated with a 10 game conference schedule. 3. You must play a tough schedule to make the playoff. Can you say made the play off with ONLY a six game regular schedule? So we will see what happens in the future but I can’t imagine going back to the stone age in scheduling since we live in instant communication era.

We also see the deleterious effects of the SEC playing a 10 game schedule: they will have far fewer ranked teams (the SEC only had 5 of 14 teams with a winning record, even though it had 3 teams with a losing record beat ranked teams from other conferences in bowl games. It's suicidal). It would be madness to play more than an 8 game conf schedule. It is one of the reasons other confs want the SEC to do it. It is a double-whammy. Knock each other off and diminish the opportunity to play other confs (and beat them). All for increasing the number of P5 games, just not within the SEC.

Not to quibble but....

Well, it used to matter because:
a) not every game was on TV
b) tickets had to be printed and mailed

The good thing is that what we always knew could be DID happen this year as far as quick scheduling.

2. Can’t make the playoff with a 9 game conference schedule. Not only made it but went undefeated with a 10 game conference schedule.
Did anyone believe this? Teams have already made the playoff with a 9-game conference schedule. NOW.....if you're saying "the SEC would obliterate itself and not make the playoff," that's a little more solid argument at times.

3. You must play a tough schedule to make the playoff.
Clemson proves this is nothing but a myth every single year.

But we do agree on the gist of everything.
