Scott gets 5th star

We still have the 4th rated class so far, but Rivals hasn't updated its list since Scott got the other star. We may go to 3rd when they update.

UGA and Notre Dame both had Five stars added however we should easily move ahead of UCLA. Its also worth noting that Ivan Matchett will most likely get a fourth star when they up date the three and four star players.

so what is the plan for Scott? is he expected to be a WR? maybe part time qb, david palmer like?

i saw him last year when they played gulf shores, i had never heard of him at the time, but obviously was impressed! he played every position!!!!! the man never came off the field.

I wouldn't be surprised if we utilized Scott much the same way Florida does Percy Harvin. Mostly as a WR, but getting him hand-offs occasionally out of the backfield and probably plenty of reverses.

There is a poster on another site, who felt strongly about it, but he believes Burton Scott will be converted into a CB/S player in Saban's defense. He goes on to say the main reason, is because Saban like's his athlethicism alot, preferably on the defensive side of the ball. And with guys like Alexander/Gibson/Hood/Ray/McCoy/Stover (already on the roster, or committed to Alabama) and the possibility of Jones in Alabama, the playing time would be severely limited at WR. So why waste an incredible talent like Scott behind those guys, when he has an easier time getting on the field, where his athelthicism/talent could shine?

I realize this is one man's opinion...but I thought it would be an interesting idea.

I think Great Scott would make a killer safety. Could be the next Roy Williams (Cowboys).

I would have no problems with him ending up on defense because I think he'll be special no matter what position he plays but by all indications he'll get his first crack on the offensive side of the ball and IMHO that's where a player of his ability can do the most damage. The more you can get the ball in his hands the better if you ask me. Of course it could turn out that he could get lost in the shuffle there with all the talent that we should have available next year in which case a move to defense certainly would be more likely (assuming he's needed more there). Everything that we've been lead to believe thus far however is that he'll start out on offense when he arrives.

Truthfully he might jump in front of some receivers on our roster. The only ones on our roster that are like him are possibly Marquise Maze, but BJ is a lot more powerful. MMc JJ EA are big outside guys. BJ and MM are inside guys that can take a five yard pass and make ten people miss and take it the distance. That is something I think we are missing this year. I fully expect BJ to be on the offensive side of the ball playing Receiver as well as getting some QB duty.

i'd love to see him get some carries out of the backfield as well!
